Four of us had lunch at Sextons Bakery today. Three coffees (rich and flavorful); one latte (pronounced "very good"); an "eggy bread" with tomato and bacon (excellent bacon and lots of it); two toasties (one with brie and cranberry, one with goat's cheese and fig relish - both delicious); and vegetarian chili made with Quorn mince (not as hot as the customer preferred, but said to be very tasty nonetheless); and of course being a bakery nothing less than four sweets - two flapjacks, one custard tart, and a jam-laced pastry.
All the desserts passed muster (and then some!) and a second round of coffees + latte saw us off.
Total bill came to well under £40, including tip. Sure, McDonald's is cheaper, but the food at Sextons is made to order, baked goods are in-house products, and the coffee is fresh and smooth.
I highly recommend the establishment. And since there was hardly an empty table the hour or so we were there, it seems to be popular - deservedly so.
