Heather donated a one night stay for two at my company charity ball held at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in Nov 2012. After a few months I decided to contact the farm and heather couldn't have been anymore accommodating, very polite, helpful and friendly, I warmed to going after the first conversation we had. Prior to arriving she called to confirm the accommodation that we would need, I told her that the auction was only for two people and I intended to bring my two small children as well, a six year old and a 1 1/2 year old. This was no problem at all and there was no additional charge for me bringing my kids, which of course was excellent news. In regards to the accommodation, heather gave us a small family building, which was finished to an outstanding standard and had a small lounge, kitchen, full bathroom with separate shower and two bedrooms that could have slept 5 adults easily. Heather also pre-empted my young sons sleeping arrangement and had assembled a travel cot in the second bedroom for him, again a very nice touch. On arriving in barton you realise it's a nice little village not that far out in the country, once we arrived at higher farm the sun was just about to set and the views were stunning! You could see North Wales and the northern tip of the Snowdonia mountain range, amazing views and it was a pleasure to experience. The farm is extremely well appointed and you can see that no expense has been spared in creating a top of the range location to relax and stay. Heather was even nicer to meet in person and she really went out of her way to make us feel at home and get us settled in.
After a small walk in the very picturesque village of barton myself and my daughter came back and heather came out and gave us a tour of her farm that is still operational and is right next door, which my six year old daughter absolutely loved, seeing the bull, lance the pony and meeting the family rabbit! In the morning the breakfast that was served was very good, with all local produce used and a point to note, some of her own family farm supplied meat which was excellent. After breakfast heather even brought out some of her grandkids toys for my children to play with, which was a particularly nice touch as we never felt out of place or awkward at all.....i am not sure if i would have felt comfortable elsewhere! Before we left we took the opportunity to buy some of the meat from her family business which has been lovely and went down a treat since we came back. Overall, we had a lovely trip, stayed in excellent accommodation, had some very tasty food and met some very nice people and would recommend to anyone who is near, or going to barton, that they must stay at Higher Farm B & B, otherwise you will have missed a great opportunity!
