“camping break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

spent a couple of nights camping here. lovely park in a fabulous location. so close to the beach and a lovely prom walk

facilities for campers were good really clean, although located far away from the tent site, there were some porta loos on site for the tent users which were cleaned regularly but still a bit smelly at times.

clubhouse lovely with some good entertainment especially for little kids. food menu looked good and fairly resonable although we didnt eat there.

outdoor pool lovely if you get the weather but beware of session times.

park could do with updating as only two swings and a strange small climbing thing.

would definatley return for another camping trip.

went monday to friday. well worth paying a little bit extra for a gold plus caravan, it was immaculate, very comfortable bed and central heating worked a treat. Nice location near a pebble beach. Lovely reception staff who greeted us on arrival. Went into the bar which seemed pleasant but didnt eat there. Nice location for Whitstable and Canterbury. The park was very quiet, but the school holidays had not yet started. Would go back to this park

Room Tip: gold caravan immaculate, tip; take your own frying pan

We have just returned from camping at seaview. The park was clean and tidy with fairly good facilities. All staff were friendly and helpful.
All the campsite facilities, showers, toilets, laundry room were clean and cleaned each day and everything worked.
We didnt use the club house in the evening but had a few meals and drinks in the day time, food and prices were quite reasonable. We didnt use the pool but it looked nice but maybe a bit small for the size of the site especially in the school holidays. We will definitely use this park again.

We travelled by public transport and took advise from Trip advisor for this. Rochester is the best station to change for Swalecliff as it didnt require a change of platform. There is a bus from SWalecliff to the park. The gold caravan was very clean and was the site. The caravan was spacious and well equiped with clean bed linen. The club house had a menu which catered for most tastes (I'm a fussy non meat eater.). The children loved the childrens time and the drinks were a reasonable price. All the staff are very helpful and polite. There are buses to Herne Bay and Whitstable. Herne Bay is lovely and is very pleasant for families with Beach entertainment and a Bandstand area with two cafes. There is a Morrisons near by, soft play and a large play area in the local Park. The shop does not stock much in the way of food so we ate out or bought in from Herne Bay. We would check which stations have a lift if we travelled by public transport again with buggy and cases.

After reading the reviews, I was very nervous given we had already booked before seeing them! I have to say I was very surprised, pleasantly surprised.
We had upgraded to a silver plus caravan. We wanted a gold one but these were already fully booked. I would recommend paying extra. I couldn't fault it.
The caravan was very clean and fairly modern. The location was great and we were within owned and rented caravans. One tip would be too make sure you pack a wind breaker though. We didn't and it took 2 days to find one that was reasonably priced - well, to find one that wasn't from the on site shop!
We had a couple of niggles, like missing a couple of knives and a small leak under the caravan. Service was excellent and quickly resolved. Couldn't have asked for more.
The club house was very clean and the staff were friendly. The entertainment section at the back is more for the kids than adults. Pool tables were well looked after and drinks reasonably priced.
The pool is not as big as I expected from the online photos. I was a little disappointed as we didn't get to use it due to demand. Only limited amount of people swimming at one time so you had to queue. It was very clean and well supervised however.
The location of the park is great. 20 min walk to the local shops and train station and about 25 mins to Sainsbury's and the fast food chains. If you can't walk that far the bus stop is less than 5 mins from the site entrance.
Lovely holiday, especially as it was my first time staying in a caravan and holiday site. In fact we didn't want to leave!
I would highly recommend!

Stayed in a Bronze caravan for 1 week, pets allowed, so took my dog, but the caravan stank sooooo bad it made us heave, had to go out straight away to purchase air freshener, didnt help much. Dirty bed linen still on beds from previous holiday makers, very dirty everywhere...carpets, sofa, fridge, drawers...beds were very uncomfortable due to very worn mattresses, very cold inside, warmer outside. But did go in October. The best part of the getaway was walking along the beach, walking into whitstable and visiting Blean Woods, Canterbury with family and dog, We walked the 'red trail' which took 2.5 hours. Love whitstable but would never stay at this caravan park again, researching other parks atm that allow pets for our next adventure...

Room Tip: Avoid Bronze Caravans...very old and worn

I and my 2 sons, 5 and 8 stayed here for a week in October in the Bronze level caravan and really can recommend the site.

The organisation and welcome was great; the caravan was spacious and well equipped; the site at this time of year was under half full so service at reception, in the bar etc was fine, though they said it can be very full (3 deep at the bar..) during the summer.. One day we ran out of gas and the caretaker was back at the van waiting to fix it before i had even walked back the 300 meters from reporting it at reception - thats what i call service!

Accerss to the beach is great and the buses into town take about 10 minutes and are very regular. The nearby Wheatsheaf, 10 minutes walk, is great, really child friendly and great food (especially the burgers!).

Overall, it was a great break and the kids are keen to come back.

The negatives: no wifi in the caravan (though there is free wifi in the clubhouse); the steak in the clubhouse was not great quality, (but the kids loved the Spag Bol), the kids twin room was tiny (but no issue for the 5 minutes a day they spent in there) and the carpet in the van was a bit grubby...
