“Perfect Inn!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

We chilled at this place...again with family. Weather was cold...and it was just nice but my lil sis was shivering as usual. 3 bedroom hotel cum apartment was spacious for us. They had tv, hangers, wardrobes and strong heated-shower. Price was reasonable as well as it could accommodate 6 pax. Bed and pillow was comfy too. Indeed, a good stay and they had an Indian restaurant walking distance and also a steamboat dine-in place. Chillax trip I would say.

To begin, my friend and I came during a holiday weekend and therefore they charged us triple the normal price (just like the other hotels). The service was simply poor. I would not recommend anyone stay here. The owner and the other workers were not friendly, but would smile only to offer a tour package or an invitation to eat in their café, which I rejected all. The room was clean, but the bathroom was outside of our room (fail). They did not hot water which was a plus. No fans or a/c, but that is common in the area as it is not needed. Actually that night and morning was cold. It is a five minute walk from the bus stop so the location is good. But due to the poor service and outside bathroom, I will not be back nor would I recommend anyone to stay here. We paid 160 RM.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with private bath.

My family and I stayed at Hillview Inn from 27=29 may 2913. We took a family room and we totally enjoyed the stay there. The room was much more spacious than any other hotels or chalets we have stayed before in other places. the room and the bathroom were very clean. The beds were comfortable too. They even had home made scones served with tea, they were marvelous! I compared the price of the scones sold at the town cafes and found them to be double the price!

Stayed in this hotel from 18 to 20 May 2013, 2 nights. It's a nightmare for me. Old room condition, old carpet, low water flow for shower, noise from surrounding, poor sound proof, big bed buds that bite and suck your blood at night, feeling itchy and uncomfortable for the whole trip, poor ventilation, no fan inside the room, you can't open door or windows as more bugs are flying in, never change bed sheet or blanket when room service. Will not stay in this hotel anymore. Totally not worth for money.

We spent one night is the HillView Inn.

The room was nice (simple though) and relatively clean. However, the bathroom was not clean, two glasses had clearly been forgotten and the general condition of the bathroom was disappointing (even taking the price into consideration).

It seems like the hotel is run by a family. The staff was not very friendly.

Otherwise, the hotel itself is a nice house with plenty of flowers and in the heart of Tanah Rata.

The staff is surly at best. Customers seem to be an inconvenience to the staff. When we arrived they had given our room to another customer. They had confused my name.So the next day we were forced to move to our correct room. The windows in in the room do not have screens but you must keep the windows open as there is no fan. Luckily there are no bugs in the highlands to bother you. But this makes for a very loud night as there is constantly cars and scooters going by at all hours of the night. They all seem to be missing a muffler. The walls of the rooms are extremely thin. You can literally hear every word being spoken by your neighbors. This is an issue when your neighbors are praying loudly before dawn. We tried to use the restaurant one time but no one ever came to serve us. The sign stated they were open all day yet no one was there. The wifi was so slow it was literally unusable. We were forced to use our smartphone to access the internet. The only redeeming quality for this hotel is it's location. It's a short walk to the restaurants and the bus station. It's also one of the only mid range hotels. The majority of hotels in Tanah Rata are hostels or much more expensive. It was easily the worst place we stayed in Malaysia.

Small HILL VIEW INN, nice location in the city center in the quiet street, 200 m from heart of Tanah Rata. breakfast incl. rooms basic clean and comfortable, not A/C but in mountains it's not necesary. Hotel arrange tours: raflesia, mossy forest, strawbery & vegetable farm, BOH tea plantation & factory.
Good budget place for short stay at Tanah Rata.
