“We enjoyed it. Much better than we expected.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2012

After all the negative reviews I read about the Heritage I wasn't expecting much. Sure the carpet is a bit old, and the rooms a little basic and dated... but all in all, it was clean, comfortable and the views were great. We made great use of our private little balcony and the location is within easy walking distance of the main street. Breakfast was fantastic and the staff were helpful. We ate all other meals in town where there is a great variety of restaurants and I recommend taking some of the jungle hikes rather than just take tours of strawberry and tea plantations. Only tip, get your drinks in town and bring them back - avoid the bar.

I would rate this hotel only average because, although the rooms were large and comfortable with good bathroom facilities, we found it cold in the room (strong draft coming under the balcony door). We suffered the first night after returning late but managed to get extra blankets for the second night (which the hotel info stated would cost 20 ringits per blanket but obviously we refused to pay and reception made no problems). Breakfast only average - problems with the toaster when we were there though they produced another one on request)

Room Tip: Watch out for draughts under the balcony door!

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. When we arrived we were given a superior room. We found this room to be dirty with mould on the paintwork. Worse still the bed had not been changed from the last guests and was smelly with some rather unpleasant stains on it. We complained to reception and who were very apologetic and up graded us to a deluxe room which was lovely.
The hotel is OK, it is a little tired in places, apart from our second room. It is quite a walk to the town and it is up hill on the way back so if you have walking difficulties it would not be the best choice.
The restaurant was OK but on our first evening the first two things we ordered were not available. However when we went to pay for our food we were told that the manager had given us complimentary sweets. So they tried hard to rectify things as soon as there was a problem but it would have been better if the problems had not been there in the first place.
I think that for the price there are probably some better hotels in the area but its OK for a couple of nights

Room Tip: I would not choose a superior room I would go for a deluxe but I think that this hotel is expensive...

Hotel is in Tanah Rata, 5 mins walk from the bus station and 2 - 3 min walk from market where you can find lots of good restaurants.

The hotel building looks nice, its clean, staff are friendly, restaurant offer a variety of food. Breakfast buffet which they serve is tasty, with combination of Indian, Chinese and English cuisines.

I stayed in deluxe room (which is in hotel's new wing) with my wife, at the time of booking I requested for room with hill view and I got it :) :) The view from balcony was amazing, I can see Gunung Brinchang and other mountains.

Climate was cool and no need to switch ON fan if you open the window. The room was spacious with large double bed, sofa, tea table, writing desk and wardrobe. The bathroom is also quiet big with bath tub and separate shower area.

Room Tip: Its good if you stay in rooms in hotel new wing (I stayed in deluxe room which is in new wing) and r...

Travelling to and within Cameron Highlands during the weekends or public holidays is a nightmare, as far as traffic is concerned. Our recent trip, which started on Saturday and lasted throughout Chinese New Year's Eve and Day, was thus a perfect storm. Staying at the Heritage Hotel, however, helped make it a more convenient and pleasant stay.
If you are travelling to Camerons from the south via Tapah, you will go through the towns of Ringlet, Tanah Rata and Brinchang, in that order. Most of the main attractions are around Brinchang, and most hotels are located between Brinchang and Tanah Rata, with a few in Ringlet. The traffic to Brinchang is horrendous, and the crawl (you're lucky if you can manage 10 km/h) will snake down to Tanah Rata and beyond.
If you stay at Heritage Hotel, however, you will avoid the worst of this as the hotel is located about 500m before Tanah Rata town centre as you come from Ringlet. The hotel is built on a hillock: stroll down to its base, which is off the main road, and you can check on the traffic situation to decide whether you really want to drive uphill to Brinchang, or just spend the day around Tanah Rata, which is not without its attractions of strawberry farms, cafes (there's a Starbucks), restaurants (Ye Olde Smokehouse Inn) and a tea plantation (Bharats, which is on the main road downhill towards Ringlet).
As for the hotel itself, we stayed in a Deluxe Room in the New Wing, which was very comfortable indeed. There was 1 queen and 1 single, with room for an extra bed if necessary. Bathroom had a tub and shower cubicle with a good selection of toiletries. LCD TV with selected Astro sattelite TV channels and DVD player were provided, as well as a safe, fridge (empty) and tea & coffee making facilities. No wifi in the room, although wired internet was provided free - call housekeeping for the LAN cable.
Ours was a group booking, full board. Breakfast was OK - nasi lemak, porridge, pancakes, noodles, bread was provided for our group in a separate dining room. There was no toaster or egg station, but a major plus point was that there was heaps of breakfast beef & sausage served, which is usually a rarity for Malaysian hotel buffets. On one night, we had a steamboat dinner. and the selection of seafood was extensive and abundant.
We were quite happy with the hotel, and would recommend a stay in the new wing.

Room Tip: As for a room in the new wing.
