Stayed in March with partner and 2 children. We booked a studio unit and the unit comes with 2 super single bed (joined together). However, we requested to add another extra bed and this is chargeable at RM80/night, inclusive of 1 breakfast. Hotel room is large and spacious. The room is newly renovated with new wall paper, furnishing and bathroom. Nicely decorated but I think they didn't renovate the exterior area, e.g. balcony area and generally the wall paint at the exterior are rather old.
The bathroom is spacious but only has a standing shower (no bath tub). Water pressure is good but the water temperature is not very consistent. Basic bathroom amenities such as bar soap, shampoo, body gel, lotion and hair dryer provided. Hotel's policy is to provides 2 towel/room. As we have paid for an extra bed, only then they agreed to send us an extra towel. Why is it so difficult to supply extra towel in the room? We have 2 adults and 2 children and it was a little inconvenient for us to have such policy. Wish they are a little bit more flexible on this. Other amenities in the room include many AC power points with multi-socket, many sitting areas - 2 stools, 1 sofa and 2 arm chairs at balcony available in the studio room.
Cleanliness in the room is good. Room comes with timber flooring but it was still cold to walk on barefoot. Luckily hotel do supply indoor slippers (2 pairs/room). Our room is located on 2nd floor (Block F) but it was easy climb for us as the parking area is located at 1st floor. Please note that the hotel doesn't have lift at the guest room. Parking are plenty and you can park right in front of your hotel unit. They are about 6-7 blocks in total. You can stop your car at main lobby, check-in and then drive to the parking lot at the respective unit.
We tried the swimming pool - very basic with 1 pool only and heated to room temperature. The indoor pool section is old and it would be good to give it a facelift. Some of the facilities at the hotel is also closed - hanging bridge, tennis court permanently. But the surrounding garden are nicely planted with flowering plants and there is also a small playground for the children. Jacuzzi is located at the spa area but I think it is only for spa guest.
Breakfast was okay but limited sitting capacity. Every morning (around 8.30am+), we have to wait for our turn but there is a large waiting with sofa and chairs outside the cafe. We loved the fire place located near the main lobby/waiting area for breakfast. It was a good experience for my kids as they have not seen a real fireplace with burning log in Malaysia. Very English indeed!
Hotel is located between Brinchang and Tanah Rata. It would be inconvenient to "walk out" without a car as it was quite secluded.
Do check-out the Jim Thompson's moonlight cottage, it is quite near from the hotel (about 5 minutes drive) and you can see the cottage from the balcony area at the hotel's cafe (Jim Thompson terrace). Very nice view during meal time. Overall, it was a comfortable stay for my family of 2 adults and 2 children.
