“Spectacular afternoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Set in an idyllic & Picturesque part of West Cork, Kilcolman Rectory offered a Sunday afternoon full of delights. Myself & a party of 16 enjoyed a wonderful afternoon celebrating my mothers birthday over afternoon tea. Sarah greated us warmly on our arrival & escorted us to her delightful gardens. Afterwards we were welcomed to the dinning room for afternoon tea where Sarah had a beautiful spread of sandwiches, scones & sweet. Sarah was most accomodating & friendly, offering assistance in anyway she could. The afternoon can only be described as spectacular , with a great host & enjoyed by everyone of all ages. We will most certainly be returning in the near future.I would highly recommend a visit to Kilcolman Rectory. Thanks again Sarah for making Mum's day so special.

You are most welcome Hazel. The Birthday Girl looked gorgeous and you could see the joy on her face with all her family around her.

This beautiful house and its garden are well worth a detour, even if you only have time for a delicious cream tea! Sarah Gornall, the chef proprietor, is one of the finest cooks we have encountered: innovative, and knowledgeable, welcoming and generous. We can't recall having eaten a better lamb dish than we enjoyed at Kilcolman. Most garden produce is home grown and Sarah sources the best West Cork ingredients (she has superb contacts.) The Rectory is beautifully decorated, with an eye for comfort. We hope to return soon!

I went for the guided tour and high tea in kilcoleman house along with my mother and found it extremely disappointing. We met with sarah, who was waiting for us outside the front door and she pointed us in the direction of the garden but gave us no garden tour at all. The garden beds were very poor and needed weeding and they were very plan.
once we got into the house sarah was waiting and we were brought down to the dining room for tea. When we sat down at the table we were given our food, which was sufficent but you would not want to be in any way hungry. While we were having our tea it was very uncomfortable as sarah kept peeping in but was in no way friendly, its was as if to check were we robbing the cultlery! On leaving the house we were given no history or information about the house which was disappointing. The €10 each we paid for our experience was not in any way worth it and I would not recoomend it.

Sarah gave us a wonderfully warm welcome. The Rectory is a lovingly restored, beautiful, homely and comfortable house. Sarah, chef and garden enthusiast, gave us an informative tour of her mature garden with lots of interest and the cream tea was superb. Well worth a visit.

Kilcoleman Rectory provided the perfect home from home for the evening of our wedding. I stayed there with my mother and a couple of girl friends the night before our wedding and we were treated to Sarah's fantastic hospitality. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast the following morning was a treat and set us up for a busy day ahead. Sarah kindly allowed us the use of the house as we got prepared which was great fun, nothing was too much trouble. The family gathered at Kilcoleman Rectory before the wedding and Mike Brown took photos, while Sarah treated us to a great brunch of home produced food. Kilcoleman proved to be a fantastic venue for wedding photographs too, especially as the day was too wet to take pictures outside. Highly recommended!!!

Dear Alice

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a nice review, especially as you had only just got married. Your stay made a lovely and exciting atmosphere at Kilcolman as you were all getting ready for your wedding. You looked gorgeous in your dress. I will send you a photograph that I took just as you were leaving.

With best wishes

Sarah

Kilcolman Rectory near Bandon in West Cork is a beautiful house , set in stunning gardens, in one of the most lovely parts of Ireland. Sarah Gornall's past training as a Corden Bleu cook, interior designer, and gardener, ensures that your stay in the Rectory is as comfortable and pampering as one could wish.

I had the most special time staying in the Rectory. The house is utterly beautiful, the rooms remarkably comfortable, the gardens gorgeous - and the breakfasts astonishing. The fruit and vegetables come from the vegetable garden, the eggs from a nearby farm, and the breads, jams and granola are home-made.

The 1855 house has been painstakingly restored. The bedrooms are large and spacious, and the rooms always filled with lovely flowers from the garden. Sarah Gornall's good taste and experience ensure that your stay with her is luxurious and relaxing.

There are nearby facilities for riding, fishing and golf, although the temptation to linger in the gardens may mean that you will not want to wander far from the Rectory.

The attention to detail and desire to please ensured that my stay was totally idyllic.
