"Osteria Moderna" (translated: modern inn) is a good place to eat at a very reasonable price... but the location is horrible if you try to reach it by car [2/5]: narrow steets and no parking... BUT! With a small advice it becomes a good location if you don't mind to climb 2 stairs...[4/5] --> set as arriving address "via Fonte Magna" and park near the hotel "La Fonte", then climb up two stair to reach the top of the medieval fortifications...and you will find this inn.
Due to a very big table - 60 people including some monks... ordering the "strozzapreti" (see below to understand why I'm smiling about this choice - the service was a bit slow [3/5] and I had to ask for ordering...
After tis small initial problem, everything in the service was good [4/5].
I took the traditional menu (fixed price, 20EUR + drinks) and I got:
-1 appetizer composed by a soufflè of vegetables, special kind of local flat bread (crescenza?) and some salad [4/5]
-1 first course "strozzapreti (translated: chocking-monk) alla norcina (translated: butcher style)": with gently truffle-flavored meat. Really good and appealing [5/5]
-1 second course of mixed grilled meat with veggies: huge and good [4/5]
- mixed local biscuits; usually this is not my preferred kind of dssert, but they were very good and freshly made [5/5]
Another good note: I have allergies and they slightly modified the second course to fit my needs...well done! [5/5]
