“Amazing cave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Fantastic caves with stupendous stalagmites and stalactights, good guides with interesting facts. The prehistoric displays above ground were interesting and children enjoyed making fire and trying crafts.

“Even better than Ingleborough Cave !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

We set off from the camp at about 10 am and had a final look at the Pont D’Arc from the view point at the base of the climb to the Corniche.

We next stopped at Barjac, a nice village a few miles south of Vallon Pont D’Arc and then it was about 7 miles to the Aven d’Orgnac Show Caves.

There was an ‘English Language’ tour in 20 mins, so we booked on that. The guide was a Father Abraham {from the Smurfs} look and sound alike. As it turned out, the English tour, as opposed to the French tour, was very popular with the Germans and so, as there were about 50 or so German speakers to us two English speakers the multi linguist did his tour mostly in German, with a bit of English thrown in for us. Then he whistled some tune by Beethoven so we could hear the cave’s echo.

I told ‘William’, Father Abraham’s real name, that Felix Mendelssohn had visited Fingal’s Cave and composed his Hebrides Overture, inspired by the cave’s acoustics and that I’d been down Gaping Gill on a winch, about the Ingleborough & Clapham caves and the legend of the Giant’s Causeway and Staffa’s Fingal’s Cave.
We had a cold drink, not a beer for a change, in the café and I wrote some post cards and then set off to the Pont Du Gard via Bagnols. http://www.orgnac.com/actualites-orgnac.php

“Spectacular Caves”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

The caves are like no other I've ever seen. Everyone just gasped when the door opened. Not too taking, with a son et lumiere at the end,

“One of the most spectacular caves we've seen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

Tour available in English. The cave was absolutely huge and very deep, but there was a lift to return to the surface. We particularly like the mini son et lumiere near the end.

“The best of the Ardeche caves”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

Unlike the other Ardece caves the Aven d'Ornac is not spoiled. The stalagmites and stalagtites are still alive and growing (very very slowly of course). If you only plan to see one cave, choose this one.
