“Midweek stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Stayed recently at the Bell . Found the room quite claustrophobic and this was the autumn - low beams I just managed to miss them and I am 5ft 9ins. Lovely bathroom with roll top bath.Evening meal made the visit great - well cooked Beef ...delicious .Would I return ? I loved the food but not so sure of the room . Expensive for what it was .

Room Tip: Room 6 a downstairs room with lowish beam

A lovely place, stylish and friendly. Upgraded us simply because a room was available and accommodated our need to leave early on Sunday by providing a breakfast tray. The rooms are spacious and beds very comfortable. The rooms are separate from the pub which is a great place to eat. The pub resterant is relaxed, stylish and has a wonderful atmosphere.

Room Tip: Room 8 with a roll top bath was a delight.

Really good hotel can highly recommend, warm welcome on arrival, room was very clean and tidy but a little small, although very warm ( room 9) if any criticism it would be a little noisy as the room is directly above the kitchen so very early noise can be little distracting especially with the windows being opened, but this should not distract from the overall ambience of this excellent hotel

This place is doing some of the best food in Oxfordshire at the moment and has been for some time now.

The staff are truly dedicated and professional and they are genuine with the warmth of their welcome.

It has been beautifully restored and upgraded by the current owners, who really do know how to make a place tick.

The Chef has a great deal of experience and delivers very good flavours with his eclectic menu.

The Bell is a real foodie's paradise, keeps great beer and caters for all types of occasion.

I can't wait to go back for a wee glass of Macon Lugny or two and see them all again soon.

Keep up the great work.

Best.

JdP.

Room Tip: Rooms 1,2,3 are superb.

We took advantage of the Bell's "Sunday Night Sizzler" which we booked direct. For £150 two people can stay in one of the cottage rooms and have a two course dinner with a bottle of wine and breakfast.

This was our second trip to The Bell and we were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome from Louis, who showed us to our beautifully decorated and spotless room. The en-suite bathroom had an enormous roll top bath. (Room 6). We previously stayed in Room 4 which was a bit larger with higher ceilings and a monsoon shower.

The bedlinen and towels are extremely high quality and the toiletries provided are lovely.

The restaurant is tastefully decorated and our meal was delicious. All the staff we encountered during our stay were polite, friendly and helpful.

The VIP card giving 10% discount for Bicester Village Outlet given on check out is an added bonus and we look forward to returning to the Bell again.

Room Tip: Room 4 has relatively high ceilings and the en-suite has a monsoon shower. Room 6 has lower ceiling...

Yes the room was very warm had to sleep with windows wide open (did not have fan on)
Room was quite small and eaves were low . My husband is 6'1" and had to be very careful moving around particularly in the bathroom. There was a little noise from outside as the room is directly above the rear entrance door and think we heard the kitchen extraction fans come on for breakfast. This said the room was very clean, bed very comfortable and the monsoon shower lovely. L'occitane products were a nice touch.
We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was all very nice and reasonable value for money. Breakfast was also more then reasonable (we did not pay extra for cooked).
The decor of the whole place is very nice and pleasant.
As a few have commented not really sure it is worth the £120 plus (especially for room 9)
But overall we did have a pleasant and comfortable stay (the lady on breakfast duty was a little cool and did not make any effort at conversation or interacting with the guests)
We were there for a visit to Bicester Outlet Village only 10 minutes or so away.
We did have a mixup with the reservation the day before and were pleased that they had a room available for us on the requested date.

Room Tip: Unless you are petite and like to be kept warm avoid room 9

We stayed for one night (Sunday) had evening meal and breakfast inculded. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. Will definantley be staying again. Had a great nights sleep very quite, we stayed in room 7. The bed was really comfortable. The food was fantastic and the staff were very attentive. The breakfast in the morning was lovely and we could have paid extra and had a cooked breakfast but to be honest the continental breakfast was plentiful. Every where was very clean and cosy. We have even said we would plan a visit to the shopping village and just go here for sunday lunch as the food was so nice.
