Description: The Jolly Sailor pub is located on Kelston Lock, with views of the Mendip hills just 300 yards from the cycle track connecting Bath to Bristol. Complimenting our 17th century building the pub has two open fires in the bar area and offers classical pub meals with an extensive 'Specials Board'. We offer a range of Real Ale's, international lagers, local ciders and hand picked wines. We run festivals and BBQ days in the summer months for all ages to enjoy. Our Senior Citizens menu runs weekday lunchtimes and we serve food all day, every day.

“Children made sick due to greedy landlord”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

Went to a community festival held and organised by the Jolly Sailor landlord, in the facepainting tent diesel generator fumes from the pubs bouncy castle made many children ill and when the security guy turned off the generator due to health and safety issues, it was turned back on, I overheard a conversation between the security staff and pub staff and was disgusted to hear it was to be turned on and the facepainter had a choice to stay and put up with it or leave... needless to say I left with my children and went elsewhere, profit is more important then the health and wellbeing of the customers children, avoid at all costs

“Not customer friendly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Visited this pub because of the setting which is lovely. Lunch however was poor. I asked if I could have a cheese baquette WITHOUT COLESLAW. " We can't make changes to the menu " was the reply I got. This states to me that their baquettes are pre-made. I can think of no other reason for this dismissal of my request. If you don't like what's on menu, then I would advise to not bother asking. Never experienced this before.

Dear Madam, I am sorry we couldnt change the filling to your baguette. You will have noticed we are an exceptionally busy riverside pub, selling anywhere from 200 - 400 baguettes in any one single lunchtime, plus the normal pub meals. The biggest challenge we face is getting the food out to our customers as fast as possible from a tiny kitchen. Any changes to the menu slows the kitchen down considerably ( on quiet days we will gladly make any changes !!).

Having said all that , due to your complaint , I will make sure that from now on we do a standard Cheese baguette.

Kind Regards
The Jolly Sailor

“Okay for a quick lunch or whatever”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

We (wife, myself, son and his girlfriend) had lunch here today (2/5/2013) arrived just after mid-day, we needed to clear a table, all the free tables were dirty (dirty dishes/cups/glasses) and food on the floor!!! The food was acceptable and the service was quick. If you just don't mind and want something quick then give it a try, if you want something special find somewhere else.
