VIILAS SOTOMAYOR is located in beautiful ADJUNTAS, PR.
IT is not a fancy place, but the food and the people are truly wonderful. THE OWNER GOES OUT OF HIS WAY TO MAKE YOU FEEL AT HOME.
THE SETTING is very country and there are @ 16 horses to ride around the @ 30 individual villas, each with a hammock in the balcony.
Gorgeous "FLAMBOYAN" trees and beautiful flowers are everywhere. The rates are reasonable and it is very easy to reach from Ponce, PR, being just @ 15 mins. away through a new highway.
When you want to get away and see a starlit night, and hear the coquies sing=="kokeee==kokeee" , this is the place to stay.
A river runs next to it and a waterfall is nearby.
Actually you can pick delicious fruits to eat from the trees in the area.
Their tel. # is (787) 829-1717.

I went to Villas Sotomayor to have a relaxing weekend and to do a little tourism but we ended up having an awful time. This so called hotel doesn’t have any villas. What they call villas are extremely small rooms with absolutely no space to move around and without windows to look at the beautiful mountain surroundings. They don't necessarily give you what they offer in the rooms, and the accesories that they do give you like the frige smell rotten and the water in the bathroom was brown!!! You have to go by car to the lobby or to the so called restaurant which is really just a few tables. They give a bad name to the word Parador, please think twice before staying there, there are better places in Puerto Rico to stay in.

Looking for a relaxing time in the rainforest on an eco friendly hotel/resort, the Sotomayor was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. More expensive than a room in a super cool boutique hotel, the VIP villa at Sotomayor is worst than a shack in a favella/shanty town. Nothing chic about this shack. I doubt it's even legal to hire out such a space.
We tried to cancel three hours after making the reservation, after finding a bad review online, but there were no refunds on cancelations before five days of the check in date. First nights deposit was needed to book...in my case $210.
Upon checking in we had to wear these pink wrist bands, (as if we were going to come circuit party or some all inclusive 18-30 cruise...I still don't know why)and given a TV remote controll with the room number painted on with nail polish ($20 fee if lost, like we came to watch tv.)No one showed us to our villa and we spent the next 15 minutes driving around in circles trying to look for it, until we went back to reception to ask again.
Located by the side of a busy road with trucks passing by every five minutes with loud speakers advertising everything from men's fashions to political announcements, this was a great way to start our relaxing weekend, after a 4 hour drive from San Juan. Inside none of the covers were on the electrical outlets or light switches. The room was small, the TVs didn't work, cieling fans rattled as if they were going to fall off, there was a lizard living in the drain of the bath tub amongst half ripped anti slip flower stickers. When unfolding the sofa bed, we found a cap and a pair of dirty red panties, the sheets were still on and the cushions were stained with blood. It was like being in some horror film. We couldn't stop laughing.
The hotel claims to be an eco friendly resort, but from my experience it couldn't be further from the truth.
After taking pictures and going to reception to tell them what was going on, they moved us to another villa/room that was cleaner and offered us a free breakfast. After all the stress in the first room, it was pretty difficult to enjoy much else. They sold no bottled water or had any kind of internet access. I will never stay there again.
If you're going you're going to stay in the area try La Casa Grande...accomodations are more simple, cleaner, cheaper, better restaurant, yoga,in a pristine rain forest, and eco friendly...pure magic if you want to get away.

My wife and I after a week in the British Virgin Islands wanted to try something different. A 2 night stayover in the mountain region of Adjuantas, Puerto Rico. We chose this property from the internet and it looked fine. We never received a e-mail reply nor a confirmation or replys to our e-mails to their 3 different addresses. We finally got a call the day before we were to leave on our primary vacation and when I called them back, they still could not find my reservation. Only when I played back the message from my recorder did they do a temporary booking. So now we were unsure about what to expect when we arrived there.
We arrived on a Sunday and their web site stated that you would leave your keys with their butler and a horse drawn carriage would take you to your villa. We saw horses, but the carriage did not exist. Since we arrived early we had to wait a few hours to check in, not a problem. Their brochure states this is the premier Eco-tourism hotel in the Caribbean. Very overstated! The rooms were clean except the small frig that smelled like dead fish. A bit overpriced for the Summer at $86.00 night, should have been half that. The staff was friendly, but the property needed consistant upkeep. The property was nice, lots of space, well kept in some places not so in others. Their touted World Class Restaurant was closed on Monday, so they sent us to their sister restaurant "Terraza Tropical" in town. We got a police escort to the restaurant as no one could tell us where it was. Food was not what we expected and the 10% discount for being at the resort did not exist.
Overall if you go SotoMayor, it is to expect a simple clean room Puerto Rican style, Nice mountain location, bring your own wash cloth, and don't expect what is in the brouchure.
