Makena Beach & Golf Resort (MBGR)
was everything I hoped it would be & more. From checkin to checkout I experienced no disappointments. We had a King size bed room on the second floor with an ocean view. The view was fabulous. The room size was perfect, it was clean & the bed was as comfy as my bed at home. The lanai for each room is totally private from neighboring rooms (except for people noise, of course). We chose the breakfast package & ate breakfast at their Cafe Keowai every morning. It was delicious. You will find everything from cereal to muffins, eggs, meat, potatoes, fruit & even an omelet bar where you can get an omelet cooked to order for you. They do have a Sunday brunch at their Molokini Terrace which I HIGHLY recommend (reservations required). They will apply what you have already paid in the breakfast package to the brunch if you have purchased it. MBGR also own their beach so there is no sharing it with the public. They have complimentary beach chairs for guests to use. Yes, they also have the cabana chairs & umbrellas to rent but their regular beach chairs are free. For any of you first timers, no need to pack those beach towels! They also have complimentary pool & beach towels for their guests. On the way out to the beach just stop at their equipment rental hut & they will give you towels. They also have someone out on the beach to set your chair where you want it & come around with water every so often. They have great snorkeling right off their beach. I read a few reviews on here complaining about the size of the pool. All I have to say is, you are in Maui on a beachfront property. Why do you even care about the pool? No, it's not huge. You have the Pacific just a few hundred feet away & it has plenty of room for everyone. We also used room service twice for supper & it was all delicious. MBGR has super friendly & helpful staff. I cannot tell you anything about their concierge services as we did not use those. There were only two specific excursions we wanted to do & we chose to book those ourselves with other companies. Here is a little tidbit of info first time stayers may find beneficial: if your flight leaves at night (like ours did) & you want to do something that day before leaving, they have a hospitality room where you can shower & change clothes. Yes, even after you have checked out. If I had known that we probably would have done things a little differently & spent the day we were leaving on the beach. Just another aspect to make me love MBGR resort even more & in all likelihood make it where we will always stay. Also, they have no resort fees. MBGR, you made our first visit to Maui unforgettable! We can't wait to come back.
