This is a very new complex about 20 minutes travelling time from Cheticamp, a further 5 – 10 minutes is required to reach the Cape Breton N.P.
Accommodation is very good as is the general level of service. The facility has a restaurant and we enjoyed very good (in fact best in our stay in Nova Scotia) food and service. Breakfast for a small cost can be delivered to your suite.
Accommodation in the Sunrise suite is a relaxing area with comfortable chairs and a sofa. Satellite TV, and an electric effect log fire, the sea is viewable from 2 windows. From here there is access to a deck with wooden relaxing chairs and views of the St Lawrence strait(?).
At the edge of the relaxing area is a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen area. Off of this L shaped area is a bathroom with whirlpool bath, and a large shower. Other bathroom facilities are also here.
The bedroom is well appointed with another TV. The bed itself is very large and comfortable, in our suite there were good sea views.
It is a short walk, 50 meters to the beach which is a mix of sand and stone, access requires climbing on large rocks. During our stay, early September the beach was deserted and very nice for quite strolls. At full tide there is little beach front.
The area is generally very quiet with few other facilities. Surrounding the site on two sides is a waste area that is probably due for further development, on the other is the sea. The access road is a dead end at the local harbour.
Approx 60% of the other units have a good sea view.
We found the location to be excellent without too much hassle as regards travel. A CO-OP food supermarket is about 10 minutes away, with a larger unit in Cheticamp.
We considered this to be the best accommodation of it’s type in the area, and although at the high end of the market is well worth the additional cost.
Pictures and other comments are attached later.
Norma Lodge is about 30 minutes away and we would thoroughly recommend one of their Concert evenings.
