My wife and I had scheduled our third honeymoon trip and wanted to see the Ardennes, but all the ratings for hotels in the area were questionable. So we located this Bed and Breakfast Inn by searching the area and found their website http://www.villasanssoucis.be/
We have emails back and forth and agreed to go. Inkeepeers Paul and Meike De Grauwe offered to fix our first evening meal for a very reasonable fee, and we agreed. Not only is Meike wife a fabulous cook, they are great meal companions as well. They do keep a selection of wine and beer which is available at a small charge. Languages spoken include Flemish, English, Dutch, and French. The resort is pet-friendly. The de Grauwes have two daughters, very well behaved and full of energy, and the Villa Manager, Marie, who is also a well behaved fun dog.
The home is a 300 plus year old converted farm house, fully restored and has very large rooms comfortably furnished. We stayed on the downstairs unit which had a large queen sized (or maybe king) TV, louging furniture, and internet access.
The closest town of any size is Bouillon, about a 20 minute drive, Stores and restaurants and a wonderful Abbey are located there. My advice would be to pick up anything you need in the way of beverages and snacks on the way to the villa. If you forget, they keep a limited supply are reasonable costs.
Breakfast is typical European style, served at the time yor request, and consists of fresh fruit, pastries, cheeses, and meats along with a beverage. Most meals are taken on the patio area overlooking the pool. Dinners are available on request, and the kitchen was advertiserd as shared use - but we never cook on vacations!
The pool ws heated and was quite a treat for all who visit there. Being from Florida, we are used to pools in abundance, so we spent out time exploring the countryside. Activities in in the area include hiking and biking, fishing in the Semois, or just exploring the neighboring communities.
I do not like to give number stars in a rating, but based on the area and what is available this Inn is a very strong 4 to 4.5. Clean, big, friendly, enjoyable. If you are looking for aplace to relax, the Sans Souci is a good choice.
