“Beautiful Beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

We loved the beach at this resort! The sand is so amazingly soft and powder white, it never seemed to get hot! The water is some of the most amazing clear turquoise water that I have seen. We could literally walk out 200 yards and still be waist deep and the water was so calm and peaceful. We stayed in one of the bungalows which was right on the beach (they all are). We loved the screened in porch and easy access to the beach. The room was a bit dated but very clean so I had no problem with it. The food was good and varied enough to keep us happy for a week. The drinks were fabulous especially the goombay smash. We rented a car and toured the island one day which was fun. We loved Max's Conch bar and visiting a couple beaches that were absolutely deserted. After touring the island we were glad that we chose the Cape Santa Maria Resort- it has the best beach on the island hands down! I've visited some beautiful beaches and this is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The staff is very helpful and kind. My husband and I are not big eaters so the meal plan would have been a waste for us. We stopped by a store on the cab ride to the resort and stocked up on water, beer, and snacks which saved us money. If you are looking for a peaceful vacation on a world class beach for a great value this is the place! The only negative were the "no see ums" which came out at night but the bug spray the hotel provided was a huge help! We hope to go back some day.

My husband and I spent a week at Cape Santa Maria and didn't want to leave. We fell in love with this resort and will be returning in the near future no doubt. All the staff at Cape Santa Maria are incredibly kind, helpful and warm (Ericka, Brevonne, Starlene, and everyone else who worked there is great).

The restaurant food is delicious - You will love the menu, especially if you like seafood. I highly recommend all their lobster dishes! I didn't encounter any issues with bugs at all. If needed, you could always use bug repellant spray which they provide you with in each bungalow.

I highly recommend the sandy keys excursion which I believe is on Thursdays. Nothing beats the serenity there. And I also recommend a visit to Dean's Blue Hole which is the world's deepest known blue hole with seawater (if you don't scuba dive, you could snorkel!).

My husband and I travel a lot, and this is by FAR our favorite vacation spot! We have nothing but great things to say about this place: the beach is gorgeous with crystal clear water, the staff is wonderful, property maintenance is impeccable, bungalows are very comfortable and air conditioned, restaurant food is great, and plenty of activities are available.

On our last day, we forgot our passports in the bungalow safe (which has never happened to us before) and realized it once we arrived at the airport. So I called the front desk to let them know that we would be on our way back to pick them up. Without even letting us know, someone from the resort drove out half way to give us our passports to save us time. We are beyond thankful for what they did. We have never encountered such kindness before at a resort!

I will begin by saying that CSM truly is a paradise unto itself,& if they never changed anything it is still special, & as beautiful as the pictures!

However, a few important changes could make CSM perfect in my family's eyes.

1. Having a very expensive meal plan yet limiting food and drinks. It's like a wanna-be-all-inclusive- but- not- quite. When it costs a small family of three $270 per day just for meals..., geez... let them have an extra soda or appetizer or whatever. You are not gonna lose money.

2. Internet & T.V. desperately needed for bungalows. There's very little to do on the resort at night as a family after you've taken a walk, looked at the stars, & sat on the porch together. I get the idea about minimizing technology . But for most people, internet is just not an option these days, & not having it in the rooms is a big inconvenience/problem. And it would be nice to watch an hour or two of t.v. in the evenings, a movie, or catch the news when we don't go out.

3. Please get a boat with a bathroom! We were really looking forward to the Iguana/Pirates of the Caribbean Island trip. Then we found out it's a 5 HOUR EXCURSION WITH NO TOILET FACILITIES! Without getting graphic, I don't think anyone can guarantee that they won't need a toilet for 5 hours straight. We were disappointed.

HELPFUL TIPS:
If you don't get the meal plan, take a cab to the little grocery store & purchase a loaf of bread, peanut butter & jelly, fresh fruit and a bag of chips. We ate that for lunch most days on the porch together & saved a lot of $. And we didn't mind considering the huge, yummy breakfast and dinners.

If you love to SNORKEL.... the best snorkeling at the resort is by the rocks that jut out into the sea by the shoreline (near Bungalow #1. ) Use vests though, the current is strong some days. And go at higher tide. Many more fishes then. Great fun!!

Room Tip: If you get a bungalow, try to ask for one that doesn't have a concrete wall on the beach that yo...

We have stayed at this wonderful resort in the Southern Bahama Out Islands numerous times. In fact, it is our all time favorite location in the Bahamas. It is owned by the Oak Bay Marine Group and Managed by Brooke and Ewa Castelsky who oversee and excellent staff attentative to making your stay the best ever and destination of choice. Two forms of accommodations are available-quaint bungalows and modern two bedroom villas, all located along the most beautiful private beach in the Bahamas. The welcome center contains the Restaurant, bar, fitness room, laundry, library, TV room, wi-fi, gift shop and recreational equipment. Can't get enough of this Jewel of the Bahama Out Islands!

Room Tip: Make reservations early. Very popular summer destination.

My son married our new daughter-in-law here 2 weeks ago.

The location is excellent. Perfect for this event. It is remote, and there is little else to distract the group from enjoying the location and each other's company.

I'm not sure I understood the appeal of the destination wedding. I get it now and I think that it combines the best of a relaxing vacation with a large group of friends that have nothing else to do but to relax and enjoy.

The staff has clearly done this before! They provided excellent service. The facilities were very good. The newer Villas are definitely worth the extra expense.

My wife and I visited Long Island last year, and had a wonderful time. We had intended to come back in a couple of years, but couldn't stay away that long! This year we divided our 9 days between Cape Santa Maria and Stella Maris. Both were nice, but we found that CSM is still our favorite place to stay on the island!
The weather left a little to be desired this time, but we were still able to enjoy plenty of sunshine each day. When I booked the room with Maureen from Oak Bay Marine Group, I requested a bungalow on the far side, away from the villas, for seclusion. Whether by accident or design, my wife and I had the entire half of the beach to ourselves until the last day of our stay. There was literally not another occupied bungalow on our end until our final day. It was fantastic having so much beautiful beach to ourselves.
As usual the food was excellent, and the staff was exceptionally warm and friendly. The biggest difference we noticed between Stella Maris and CSM was the attitude of the staff. At Stella Maris, the staff would accommodate your request, but we always felt like we were inconveniencing them. Few of the staff would actually interact with you and have a conversation. At CSM, the staff smiles warmly and greets you like family every time that you enter the room. You really feel more like family than a guest here. Coming from the Southern U.S., we are all about hospitality and warm greetings, and that kind of attention goes a long way with us. Kudos to Brooke and Ewa for all the hard work they have done. They are always personable and have set a good example for their staff as well. Great management from our perspective is what makes the difference. We will definitely be back!!!!

We just returned from an eleven day stay at this fantastic resort. This is a small remote resort, where you can escape the crowds and hustle and bustle, and take in the slow, easy life of Long Island in the Bahamas. This is the REAL BAHAMAS! The beach is the best in all of the Caribbean and the Bahamas, with sand so white and soft, it's like walking on baby powder, and the clearest water in neon turquoise. We loved our beach bungalow, which is typical of the Bahamian cottages you see throughout the Bahamas. The bungalows have a tropical motif. They are spacious, with comfortable beds with lots of soft pillows. There is plenty of hot water. There is a coffee maker and coffee, which is replenished everyday. A small refrigerator is also provided for your convience. Shampoo, soap, conditoner, shower gel, and body lotion was also replenished every day, something you don't always find at other resorts. The bungalows and villas are located right on the beach, close to the calm sea. We did a lot of bone fishing while at CSM, and there is plenty to do. There is reef and deep sea fishing, as well as paddle boarding, kayaking, hobie cats, and many day tours. One of the favorite pass times of everyone was to relax on the calm beautiful water with a float and a tropical drink. This is truly PARADISE. The staff at the resort are 5 star. What wonderful people! We love them all. Anola, Nadine, Erica, Kelly, Andy, the beautiful ladies at reception, everyone.

Some of the reviewers have written reviews concerning the food and the meal plan that I found misleading. Well, I can tell you the food is absolutely delicious and in abundance. I found the food plan to be very reasonable, considering the quality and the quanities of food and snacks you receive. Every dinner includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Every lunch includes and appetizer and a main course. You have a lot of choices for breakfast, including eggs benedict, pancakes with fruit toppings, and omelets that rival anything you will see on the Food Network. Sodas are also included in the meal plan, along with delicious juices, coffee, and tea, as well as snacks. The tip is also included. You can't find a better deal anywhere and that's a fact!

We shall return next year.
