“Best meal since arriving in the Bahamas five weeks ago!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

Our sailing group of four sailboats traveled from George Town, Great Exuma to Thompson Bay, Long Island this week. We rented two cars to explore the island. A local tourist guide had an ad for Chez Pierre Resort & Restaurant located on the beach (Bank side) in Millers, Long Island. We passed the sign for the resort on the main road going north. On our return south we called ahead and made a reservation for nine guests. We arrived at sunset. Pierre, the owner and chef, greeted all of us on his deck overlooking the beach.

Pierre already had a table set for the nine of us. He first explained his bar. All cocktails are $6/cocktail with a sign-up sheet on the bar to keep tabs, otherwise the bar is completely on the honor system. Excellent selection of liquors and mixers. Everyone made a cocktail for themselves and enjoyed the deck at sunset before taking our seats. This was the least expensive cocktail since arriving in the Bahamas. I guess if you don't need to pay a bartender you can make money at $6/ cocktail.

Chez Pierre's menu is extensive. Several veal dishes (Piccata, Marsala, etc) are on the menu - the first time we saw veal on a Bahamian restaurant menu. Several in our party ordered a veal dish and thoroughly enjoyed their dish. Others ordered the fresh fish - Mahi-Mahi. Three woman split a single salad Nicoise; Pierre said it was a big salad and he was right. The three salad splitters really enjoyed their salads.

I had the shrimp with linguini in a light cream sauce. Pierre seasoned the shrimp with nutmeg and pepper (first time I had nutmeg on shrimp). It was delicious.

To our surprise, Pierre, who does all the cooking himself, got all nine meals prepared very quickly. Appetizers came out from the kitchen just after he put great French bread out on the table. We were all enjoying our second cocktail by this time. Pierre is an efficient chef as well.

All entree's were in the low $20 range.

Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals, and everyone agreed that it was among the best since arriving in the Bahamas. I thought it was the best. And the location is wonderful.

If your cruising travels in the south central Bahamas take you to Long Island (and it is worth seeing) then I highly recommend that you have dinner at least one night at Chez Pierre. You will really enjoy Pierre's hospitality and his great cooking.

“Chez Pierre was one of our best culinary experiences of the Bahamas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2012

When we decided to travel to Long Island we also made a point we had to go to Pierre's restaurant. Although we had read reviews about the Persona, heard he was a colourful character, we made the reservation and managed stressfully to get there on time (check where it is before you have to go there, the access is not the easiest part !). We've had a warm welcome, spent a very nice evening there and will go back if we're in the area without hesitation.
The food was very very good : the white wine sauce with the shrimps is really excellent, I'd love to have the secret to achieve such a perfect taste ! the pasta were great, the salad : if you think big, full of flavours, fresh : that's it. The selection of wines is great considering where it is, everything was fresh. We did not manage to take a dessert as we were 1. full 2. invited to the next table celebrating a birthday, which made us try a homemade chocolate cake, but we went back to our hotel very satisfied, having spent a great gourmet moment and having enjoyed the conversation with our host. Thank you Pierre !

“Good Pizza, good wine, great view and wonderful Pierre!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

Pierre does your Pizza "a la minute", very tasty. The Restaurant is directly on the beach, it is a quiet and peaceful surrounding; we enjoyed our lunch very much. It was nice to speak french after being 5 weeks in the Bahamas...
Good that Pierre stopped us when ordering 2 starters and 2 pizzas.... tooooo big!
1 small Salat for 2 and 1 Pizza for 2 was plenty---
He's got a good choice of wines (ouf, dry ones !!)
The card looks pricey at first, but by sharing the plates you end up like in any other reasonable restaurant with a fair price.
For lunch it is better to call Pierre first.
