“Great experience”

Winter Haven Inn had all the ammenities of a 5 star hotel without being touristy. The staff was warm and friendly, making us feel at home during our stay. The rooms were spacious and clean with a deck off the back providing a great view. Peter, the chef, prepared amazing meals for us while we caught up on the games. (they have a TV in the bar) I couldn't imagine a better place to stay.

The hotel was wonderful. The staff made the most memorable impression on our group. Everyone was so personable and helpful... by the end of the trip they were like family to our group. We left our doors unlocked and some days open when we were out fishing. Winterhaven is located in the best area on the island- the ocean views, the marina, and the on site restaurant allowed us to have everything we needed at our fingertips at all times.

Highly recommend Winterhaven if you're looking to get away from the crowds and enjoy a part of the Bahamas often overlooked. The food was reef caught or trolled up every other day, the meals were amazing, the staff was always there to assist but left you alone to really enjoy your stay.

Winterhaven is an absolute slice of heaven nestled seaside on the best island in the Bahamas. The Rowdy boys and their eversweet staff took care of everything we could ask for and way-way more. The culinary mad-genius and generosity of Chef Peter, I will never ever forget him - wow! This is a place you can really relax, unwind, feel secure and at home. The easy going Long Islanders laugh and smile so much you can't help but joining. Pictures of us sipping drinks at the picture perfect seaside pool, amazing fishing, and sightseeing all over this island of paradise have me scheming for MORE!

My boyfriend and I came to Long Island for the gorgeous beaches, bone fishing and privacy. We chose the Winter Haven Inn because of their charm and fantastic reviews on Trip Advisor. We stayed at this amazing place for 10 whole days and we cant wait to return!

Our room was gorgeous, with breathtaking views and total privacy, balconies in the front of the room and back was fantastic. It was always clean with gorgeous linens and furniture – so comfortable!

We ate at The Rowdy Boys restaurant morning, noon and night…which is only steps away. It was the best food around. Period. The portions (especially the pasta and lobster) are huge and all of the servers are friendly, fast and fun! Valencia who works evenings will make you the best Rum and Coke around.

This is a family owned operation with Mom Chloe cooking you up some breakfast whenever you desire it and in the process she’ll crack you up with her laughing and storytelling. Manager Muriel is really amazing, she makes you feel welcome, takes care of everything you need and will become a friend by the end of the trip.

Make sure you book your bone fishing trips through her and see if one of her brothers will take you out deep sea fishing as well! They’ll cook your catch at the restaurant later that night. Also ask Bernard about his former lobster fishing career and if you’re lucky he’ll tell you some good jokes.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended our trip several days and plan on visiting again this year.
Thanks Winter Haven for a trip we’ll remember forever!

Winter Haven Inn's accommodations were comfortable and charming. The eight of us enjoyed all our meals at the Rowdy Boys Bar and Grill. The staff were warm and very accommodating even when we attempted to deplete their wine supply. This place is a must stay when being in Long Island (Bahamas best kept secret).

My boyfriend, his 16 year old daughter and I - and my brother, his wife and 3 daughters (14, 6 and 3) recently travelled to Long Island and stayed at Winter Haven Inn. We booked 3 rooms (2 rooms with kingbeds and one with 2 double beds). We leanred Of WH from researching hotels online via trip adviser. WH was also recommended by several of our friends who live in the Clarence Town area. We could not have made a better choice! We loved loved WH. There are 8 rooms - in 2 brightly colored buildings over looking the Atlantic ocean. Our rooms were clean, bright and large. We had a huge front and back balcony, there was a good size economy fridge -(which was wonderful!). Onsite there was also a pool (which the younger ones took great advantage of - even though we went beaching every day), and a lovely restaurant and bar too. The food and service were terffic too. Each morning and/or evening we would go into the restaurant (called Rowdy Boys) you felt like one of the family. There is also Wifi access too -which helped the teenagers get a "quick fix" for their emails, etc. and we updated our photos to send to family and friends back home. We did not miss at all having a tv or phone in the room. It was actually wonderful!

The inn is owned and operated by a local Bahamian family - who made us feel so much at home and welcome. Their staff and friends too also were very friendly and so pleasant. They assisted us with so many of our questions and inquiries. We also rented a vehicle from them- which was a perfect sized small suv.

We all would highly recommend and encourage you to stay at Winter Haven. We cannot wait to go back.

We also loved Long Island. We have travelled to many parts of The Bahamas. Everyone in our group enjoyed the many natural and amazing wonders of Long Island. The beaches are unlike any other in the Bahamas. Dean's Blue Hole, Lowe's Beach, Gordon's Beach and Galloway Beaches were almost daily trips. Bring your snokel and fins so you can enjoy the underwater sea life - the water is so amazingly clear. I regret not bringing an waterproof/underwater camera - next time! Every day I felt like I was in a "corona beer commercial" bc of the water, sand and serenity of the island The teenagers and younger children did not get bored even though they were with their phones/texting/computers, etc. There was so much to do and see - the beaches were the best natural entertainment of all.

WH provides beach/pool to use - we also brought beach chairs with us -and a small collapsable cooler - which came in super handy. There are small convenience stores (which were also incredibly clean) all over the island. There are also several restaruants near WH that we enjoyed fresh and yummy Bahamian food. Everywhere we went we noted how friendly everyone was, and clean too. The residents of Long Island have an immense pride and love of their island - and they strive to keep it a very special place.
