“Great food, value for money and old world charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We had a great family evening meal on Thursday evening July 25th, great fish dishes, halibut rissotto, monkfish in a lobster sauce and mouth watering desserts. If you are in the area we would strongly recommend giving it a try.

We called in for a light family lunch in the garden and were disappointed with what we received. Prawns in garlic butter were 6 tiny frozen prawns defrosted and swimming in melted butter with a paltry half slice of bread. The smoked haddock tart was a few pieces of fish in a warm cheese sauce poured into a pre-baked pastry case! Not at all what was expected for a seafood restaurant. We would certainly not recommend the food to anyone.

Having read very good reviews for food at the Mayview on Trip Advisor before our visit for an evening meal a few days ago, perhaps our expectations were too high. Seven family members attended and all felt let down by the poor service ( after an hour and a half we had only had our starters! ) Main courses were not served at the same time, one of the party having his produced almost 10 minutes after everyone else. The quality of the food left a lot to be desired, in that some of the starters were paltry, the bulk of the dish being mainly salad leaves (fine if that was what was ordered). In four of the fish dishes - scallops and halibut - the fish was on the dry side, not what one would expect in the East Neuk! Fortunately our spirits were lifted by the succulent, tasty fish and chips in Anstruther the following evening! Will definitely go back there!

I went to the Mayview last Saturday for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was prompted to go due to the owner, Tom, helping me out with a problem with my burglar alarm the previous day. What a lovely man he is! I will certainly make a point of visiting the hotel when I am in the area and will encourage others to do so too.

We pop up here a lot when we're in the East Neuk and it feels like home each time (have to remind my wife to check in before we go to our favourite room!)

The staff are fabulous, a good laugh and very good at looking after us.

The food seems to improve each time we're here - the choices are astonishing; fish and chips to sumptuous chef's creations.

Great!

I recently had my wedding in the function suite at the Mayview hotel everything was excellent from the smiling staff to the food and the service. They made our day so special. The food was delicious and all of our guests commented on how great it was afterwards. The service was outstanding which was great as there was 100 of us. The function room is just perfect for a wedding and I would recommend it to everyone.

The function room at the rear of the hotel was transformed for our daughters wedding. The staff were amazing - never intrusive always attentive. Food a sit down meal was outstanding - we had wedding guests stay in the hotel and they were equally impressed with both the rooms, breakfast and staff. Well done to everyone involved - an unforgettable experience for everyone.
