“Museum and cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

The museum is fascinating, with lots of gems still set in chunks of rock. There is a small gift shop, where you can buy gems or jewellry. The cafe is OK but a bit overpriced. Fine, though, if you want to stay a bit longer chatting.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

Children really enjoyed it here. Quiz sheets kept them amused and they were delighted with their lucky dip gem rock. staff were very friendly and the jewellery was beautiful and reasonably priced in shop. Only negative was the price of drinks and cakes in the café.

“A rocking trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013 via mobile

This is a very fascinating place to go visit, it's very informative about all the different types of rocks, gems etc and how they are all made. It's amazing, a must see place. With some beautiful jewellery or house based items made in all the variations of rocks/colours

“What a surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Just been on holiday in the region and decided to visit the Gem Museum (I used to work for a jewellers when I first left school) on a very wet day. What a surprise we all had. Entrance fee was only £4 per adult and if you kept the ticket you could come back again for free within a 2 week time period - which we did! The variety of stones, rocks and wood on display was extraordinary and the staff were so helpful and informative. Children (none with us but from what we observed) were well catered for and had a sort of questionnaire to fill in as they went around the displays. The obligatory gift shop was there as was a café but both exceeded expectations. Excellent food, albeit of a snack variety but prepared as you ordered so fresh and tasty. The shop was full of jewellery and gifts associated with the museum and well worth a look at and purchase.

“Really good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Having read the reviews we knew at least the cafe was well rated, but what a fab place to spend a couple of hours out of the rain. Very good for children. Good wheelchair access. Educational and interesting.
