“Fantastic stay, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

I stayed here with two friends as part of my birthday treat. We had a fantastic stay, highlights being the brilliant staff & the amazing food. We had dinner & breakfast in the hotel & both were superb. The staff were very helpful & friendly. We had a family room which was lovely, two big rooms, nice bathroom & good powerful shower. We all said we would def stay again.

With such an imposing exterior the interior of the castle does not quite live up to initial expectations. We stopped over on our way north, not having visited before. The staff, when found, were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. On one of my nocturnal meanders I came across the kitchen. by accident and was delighted to see acres of sparkling stainless steel. In many areas great progress seems to have been made, particularly when you know the castle was set ablaze in the Second World War to make a beacon for German aircraft. An eye now needs to be turned to some fine tuning. There are numerous small things, which do not involve capital expenditure. Such examples are neither toilet roll holder, nor towel rail in the bathroom. The door had obviously been turned, but no thought had been given to infilling the old screw holes. No floor plate between bedroom and bathroom. Our television defied all efforts to make it work. On the positive side the rooms were very spacious and the bed was brilliant , being a good size. The hotel was warm and you can imagine just how good it will be when completed. Breakfast was great with not only plenty of choice, including fish and, great joy, no buffet in sight! All food is freshly cooked to order and served by a very happy and helpful staff, which is just what you want first thing in the morning.
I wish Rod, Ty and Joanne every success and look forward to stopping in the future to see how work is progressing.

Room Tip: Make sure you know how to contact staff in the evening.

We had only one night here but it was just wonderful, our host Gavin was absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. It is a work in progress but he has a great vision and will no doubt be instrumental in the places success. We had a gorgeous huge room with amazing views and the bed was one of the best I've slept on during this jaunt through Scotland & England!

We arrived at the end of autumn from Aberdeen for a 24hours stop-over to visit Stirling.

It's clear that work is still in progress here but the long term vision is evident. It's not pretentious like so many similar places, just downright comfort, space, peace, quiet and good service.

The room was very spacious and comfortable - would class as a suite in some places, with its sofa, sideboard and coffee table as well as huge comfy bed, etc, etc. There were fantastic views along the glen and of the mountain backdrop.

Nothing was too much trouble. We had an email on booking thanking us for this and inviting us to book supper; the latest menu was sent too. We were very glad we did book - this was the best steak we have ever had!

The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble.

We will be going back!

Stayed at Broomhall in August 2012 with my husband and two kids. Lovely place to stay. Decor doesn't match the exterior but didn't mind that, its very comfy. Food was excellent. Minimal staff which didn't affect service at all, they were really lovely and good craic. Very relaxed. No drink licence but very amenable to bringing your own in. Very good location for access to Stirling. Very enjoyable.

This hotel was built as a private home, I would not say that it's a real castle, although it resembles a castle. Since the first owner the was a school and smthing like nursery in this building and "the smell" of these experiences still exist in the building. I must say that the owner did a great "recovering" job, but still there are a plenty of work to do.
The room we had (family type) was spacious and clean, but not very good furnished (even no a table and a chair). The bathroom was clean and good designed (with small window), but if you want to take a shower you cant do it without wet head and the shower cap was not provided (and it was cold either in the room and in the bathroom, I asked for a heater but after half an hour waiting the ladi came and said that the owner is unable to find a one).
The dinner we had was one of the most expensive but worst for our holiday (we even returned 2 courses untouched and the nice lady who took it advised as to go and talk to the owner ourselves, But we were too tired to) and there are no place to go out on foot. But still there are a lot of nice places in Stirling, which about 20 minutes drive.
Next time I will definitely try to find something in Stirling (as we are traveling with 5 years old cild) a but its a acceptable place to stay without children and after a good meal somewhere else.
It took us an hour drive to Edinburg Railway Station.

Room Tip: Ask for room on the top floor!

Last minute choice by location/ price criteria - very happy with our decision.
Some short-term problem with bar licence but more than compensated for with excellent, very large room ( complete with large en-suite wet room),good food at realistic prices and most of all very friendly/helpfull staff. Good choice at breakfast, all excellently cooked and presented in what we thought was a nice dining-room with very large tables. Will certainly use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Number 14 if you want lots of quiet space. Slow lift and lots of stairs - creaky floors - but what...
