“Lunch with a view - just perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Had a wonderful pitstop for a light lunch and popped into the Coylet Inn, the owners couldn't have been any more helpful, log fire burning in the bar and a bowl of hot homemade cullen skink....definately worth a visit and next time we will spend the evening and enjoy the view for a little longer.

My husband and I come out to eat here rarely but everytime we do we really enjoy it.
The staff are attentive and friendly.
The food is amazing! We often go for the Friday fish and chips deal which is 2 for £12. Excellent value for money! The puddings are beautiful.
The Coylet is situated in a lovely place with a great view.
We love coming here for dinner.

Stayed at nearby lodges with family and went to the Coylet for dinner one evening. Beautiful setting, cosy and welcoming, food really good and service warm and friendly. We sat in the bar area as we had our dog with us and we were made to feel like locals. The service is attentive and friendly and this is part of the charm when you visit this area as it makes you feel comfortable. We met the new owners who sat and had a drink and a chat with us on their night off and we wish them the best of luck for the future, we will definately be returning!!xx

Stopped in for lunch on Saturday. Waited at the sign in the foyer asking to wait here for a table, but as nobody came, we went into the dining room where we were eventually shown a table. As there were only approx. 6 other diners in we thought we would be served quickly. Our drinks and food order was taken quickly, and got our drinks shortly afterwards. The food though took approx. 25 minutes to arrive. The fish and chips were really tasty, but mushy peas? This may be an English delicacy but did not add to the overall good food. The sausages and mash were tasty, as was the gravy. Had to look in the bar to pay, as there were no other staff about to ask for the bill. Overall once we got our food, it was tasty.

It is interesting to notice from the reviews that were were not the only ones served half cold soup in a generally disappointing visit to this inn. The new owners don't seem to have a handle on how to manage the arrival of intending eaters - I waited in the lobby for a while and eventually managed to extricate the lady behind the bar from her conversation to ask for a table. She went off to find out, but left us in the entrance unsure of whether were were going to be sent away, during which time, unbeknown to us they were laying up the table. They need to think about first impressions. Overall the food was acceptable - the lasagne a little dry, but not helped by the fact that the waitress (who had been in the bar) kept calling the dishes by incorrect names, excusing herself by saying that she didn't usually work in the restaurant. Despite its pleasant location, I would not go again - there are other restaurants where the quality is much better in equally good environments.

Just spent 4 nights here and will go back again good atmosphere, stunning views
Food was very good and cooked to order so nice and fresh..
Staff were all friendly and good to see a very dog friendly pub.
A couple of very good scottish real ales on.
Hired one of the boats which was a bonus and well worth it even if you are not staying you can still hire one.
I wish the new owners and staff all the best in the new venture.
