I held my company conference at the hotel recently. I live in the area and wanted to give my staff and guests a taste of Welsh hospitality, sadly they left disappointed, very disappointed in fact.
There are many excellent features to Miskin Manor, the location, the building, the grounds and the friendliness and helpfulness of a few members of staff. Sadly the overall experience was marred by the unprofessional way in which many aspects of our stay were handled and the absolute lack of professionalism and respect to customers shown my some members of staff.
Clearly Miskin Manor is an excellent wedding venue with outstanding backdrops and good entertaining and dining areas. Unfortunately there is a huge difference between a wedding function and a conference stay, sadly Miskin Manor is not prepared or equipped to handle the latter. Had it not been for the constant alertness and proactive organisation on the part of my company conference organiser very little would have gone well during our stay.
Most of my staff and guests are from outside the area; as well as a number of guests from America, they are all used to staying in fine hotels and were all expecting an enjoyable stay, they were universally disappointed with the standard of bedrooms and in some cases upset with the way some staff handled their requests for simple things such as coffee, sandwiches etc, perhaps a training session explaining how their wages are actually generated would be a good start!
I realise that we are not awash in our area with highly experienced and highly professional hotel and hospitality staff, however, there is no excuse for unprofessional and dismissive behaviour on the part of SOME staff. Unfortunately with the high proportion of young staff a less than satisfactory level of service can run through the whole staff, not necessarily due to their lack of ability but more down to training and guidance.
Can you please take these points on board, look at the other comments you have received and look at how things can be improved for future guests. I am very happy to have a pre conference debrief if this would be helpful.
