Just returned from 2 wonderful weeks in Abaco [1st half of Feb. 2004].
Weather great, Abaconians wonderful people, and scenery terrific.
However, times are turbulent at the Regattas. Although the condos were quite nice [no TV or blender provided -- but they will RENT you one!], there were no intact beach chairs -- not one! All were broken down and dirty. Staff said chairs were on order. Hmm? Also, wide gap at bottom of back door. Transoms were on order. Hmm? Also, lost luggage couldn't be tracked because the phones to the airport desk weren't working. Hmm?
However, a lone staff member thought that maybe by calling an adjoining airline desk I could make contact regarding my luggage. And it worked, but the "manager" couldn't figure out this step. As he confided to a co-worker, too busy looking up Janet Jackson's Super Bowl pix on his computer? Then there was the noisy construction of a private residence right beside the condos. Much gossip about that project. So, chairs, doors, lost luggage, and the construction aside, believe it or not, this was a heavenly place. And Sandrina, long-time staff member, was a dear. This place has so much potential, someone needs to save it from ineptitude.
