“beautiful island”

Hard to get to but well worth it. It has a pretty little town called Hope Town with some very nice restaurants and a couple of bars, has beautiful white sand beaches and gorgeous sunsets...

“Wonderful Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Took Spring Break here. It is a wonderful place to get away to. Good breezes and mild temperatures relative to the Caribbean were especially delightful. Coming from Pittsburgh it was a lot quicker and easier to get to then many places in the Caribbean. That ment noticeably more time relaxing! Do allow time for the ferry (see the TripAdvisor review of Albury's Ferry) when making plans.

Clearly, it has been a bit over built with MacMansion style vacation homes, many for rent. However, they really don't interfere with relaxation. We stayed in the Abaco Inn and had a great time.

Boating is clearly a big draw. You can easily rent power boats in the 20' to 30' range.

If you want to leave Hope Town, and would encourage a visiter to do so, rent a golf cart. They are readily available.

Found only one dive shop. Their wasn't a lot of choice for beaches, Tahiti Beach (also reviewed on TripAdvisor or Google it) is certainly the most popular and we enjoyed it. As a practical matter, to get Tahiti Beach from Hope Town you will need to rent a golf cart.

Don't expect a lot of great food, though you can find good food. Very limited WiFi if you need it, and if you need it this might not be the best place to vacation. We found Elbow Cay to be a nice, laid back, hide-a-way.

“Panoramic views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

If you don't go to the top of the lighthouse you haven't been to Hope Town! Took lots of pictures, 360 views. The ferry takes you there for free and either catch the next ferry coming back or to go back or bum a boat ride!
