“Beautiful beaches”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

This is a nice, quiet resort on a beautiful beach on Grand Bahamas Island. Our overall experience was very good. The beach, pool, room, and facility overall was very nice. We are not into the packed beach "tourist" experience so this was lovely. The wait staff and dining options were our only complaints really. I travel enough to understand "Island time", but the waitresses took it to the extreme. It was very frustrating to order and then sit for an hour waiting for something as simple as chicken nuggets and fries to come back out and the menu lacked healthy options.

My grown daughter, my husband, and I visited this resort the 1st week of June, 2013. We had a good time and enjoyed our stay. Because of some of the reviews I had read, I was a bit nervous about it. We did do the presentation although I didn't want to because of the reviews. However, our salesman (Oscar) couldn't have been nicer. We did not buy, but we made a friend and got a hug every time we saw him. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We asked for an ocean view when we got there and saw that we didn't have one and they did accommodate us. The room was very spacious. We did have to make 3 maintenance calls but they were always taken care of promptly. I wouldn't consider it a 5 star hotel but then maybe that's what you get in the Bahamas. (After all, If I wanted all the amenities I could have stayed home.) The beach was beautiful and couldn't have been better. Our two favorite tours were the steak and lobster dinner cruise and the bonfire on the beach. The resort is somewhat of a quiet place.

Room Tip: I would not have been happy with a courtyard room so would suggest asking for ocean or pool view.

I thought I had already written a review on this tine share, but it appears that it did not go in. I wanted to say a few very important things and touch on a few issues based on other comments made on trip advisor.
First of all, we have been going to island seas for four consecutive years .this year we will be staying for a month. We began by purchasing a 1BR on Court Yard view. We went to the 90 minute presentation, which it actually took over 3 hours and ended up involving the then Sales Manager, who now is the General Manager( very much deserved promotion). My husband and I don't look lightly at purchasing anything, much less a time share. It is a second home and the price is just about the price of a new car or a down payment on a house. We made sure that all our questions were answered and that we understood every statement on the contract, including small print or not. We also made sure that we took full advantage of our meeting with the Verification Manager who is also a pleasure to deal with as a professional and a representative of the resort . We know own 2 ocean front weeks. That should tell you how much we love our "second" home.
This is not a HOTEL! This is a time share and travelers need to carefully read about this and other time shares, you will find what to expect in terms of amenities, age group appropriate activities, weather conditions when you plan to travel, and what the resort offers in terms of room(s) amenities, ask about when /what maid service is going to be given, then you won't have any surprises and therefore no complaints. Island Seas Resort
Is the best time share we've been privileged to visit. We own other time shares and we always deposit those weeks to use them at Island Seas. My husband and I have discussed, many times, in visiting other resorts , but we coming back to Island Seas. Now it's really our "second"home. We know everyone, their families, their work schedules, how many jobs they have( usually at least two) to make ends meet, and we care about them deeply.
We know what to expect and when, we cook and clean our room, we make the bed daily, except for once a week when the maid service does it and cleans all the rooms.
Otherwise , they take out the trash daily, change towels if you have them on the floor. We usually don't change towels daily, we don't need to, and just like at home, we like to conserve energy by not using hot water, etc.
So, our opinion is that this resort does not deserve negative comments if you ask what to expect.
You don't have to cook there, you can go out to eat, or eat in the resort's restaurants, you can change your towels daily, have the trash taken out daily, but you will have to make your bed daily, etc, except the once a week I discussed earlier.
In any case, read up about this or any other resort you plan to visit and know what to expect. Call the resort and ask questions.!!!! The membership department is wonderful and works wonders when you get in and get to your room and review( based on a list they give you) if you are missing any items or something is not in proper working order.
Also please fill out the evaluation sheet before you leave . They do read it!
Don't we love this place?!!!!'

I went to this resort with my girlfriend and her family and it was a wonderful vacation indeed. It was very relaxing, not overcrowded at all, and the staff was fantastic. The DJ was a great guy and introduced himself and asked what people wanted to hear, the bartender Ritchie was also an awesome dude! He made great drinks and was just a nice person to talk too while on vacation and even had to add him on FaceBook to stay in touch. The beach is beautiful no rocks like some other islands. The only thing that would make this place better is if they added an all inclusive plan! Everyone likes an all you can drink price for vacation haha The resort was also a short taxi ride from the downtown market which was a cool place to visit. I would definitely go back to this resort if I planned on going back to the Bahamas anytime soon.

Room Tip: ocean front is the best

We traded to get here. Ended up with an ocean-view room on the third floor. Spacious two-bedroom suite with nice amenities. The room was reasonably-well maintained, but you could see little dings and issues here and there...nothing major.

We didn't do the sales pitch...thanks to the previous reviewers, so we have no negatives on the staff. Quite the contrary, everyone was very gracious to us and I can't think of a staff member who didn't greet us in one way or the other. It was very nice to always be acknowledged with a smile and a pleasant greeting!

There is a nice pool, nothing extravagant, but nice. Typical resort games like shuffleboard, and volleyball are available. Quite a few activities are offered, but didn't see a lot of people participating. There were also serveral activities that had been cancelled, I assume because of lack of participation.

The beach here is very nice. Several huts fronting the large shallow beach. There was always someone available to help you with your lounge chairs and towels....and always with a smile. The beach bar service could be improved....very spotty and you never knew if they were offering it or not. Didn't matter much because the beach bar, Coconuts, was just a few steps away. (Good happy hour prices there.)

We had breakfast every morning at the resort. The portions are very generous and we split the breakfast each day. Very good! We had lunch once at Coconuts....fried grouper sandwich was delicious! If you eat here be sure to show your band for a discount.

This resort is a little isolated and you probably won't walk anywhere but the beach. There are a couple of nearby restaurants that we really liked...one to the west for jerk chicken...and one to the East (Bernies) which is great for conch. Bernie's also had a great Tuesday night bonfire dinner with ribs, pork steak and corn on the cob.

Although isolated, Island Seas offers hourly shuttle service to the Lucayan Marketplace and weekly service to the grocery store. There is also a small convienience store onsite.

We met lots of people who come here year after year. They love the isolation and the nearby water sports. If that's what you're looking for, then this place is for you!

Room Tip: Go for the ocean front rooms. There are three units across the street from the beach and not as con...

We stayed at the Island Seas for 2 nights as part of a local offer for a 4-night Bahamas cruise & stay and went with four other couples. The "resort" is small and needs a bit of TLC. It just seemed "old and tired". Some fresh paint and grout would go a long way toward sprucing this place up. We did enjoy the pool (which needs a bit of work) the beach (which is beautiful just the way it is) and the bar service (which was great!). We did like that the hotel is small as it wasn't crowded...no problems getting a lounge chair. The majority of the staff, particularly the front desk and bar staff, went out of their way to answer our questions and accommodate us. We did find that the rooms are clean and nicely furnished. Wish they had a least queen beds in the bedrooms though...a full size just doesn't work for two grown adults. And the mattresses need to be replaced...must be the originals...you sink into the middle. We did find that any problems were quickly taken care of.

We did find that the people who checked us in and who I believe were the timeshare representatives were rude and very unfriendly. Geez...you would think if you wanted us to buy or even listen to your presentation that you would be nicer. We outright told them that none of us were interested in buying a timeshare. We were left alone the rest of the time we were there.

Some of us did eat lunch at the Coconuts bar the first day...the burgers were good, the chicken was awful. Based on that, we did not eat in the restaurant at all. We took the last free shuttle of the day from the resort to the Port Locaya Marketplace and ate there. Can highly recommend the Greek place, the Irish Pub and Giovanni's Italian. The shopping there ranges from very high priced items to the same local wares (t-shirts, coverups, woven bags) in each shop in the straw market. We took a cab back to the resort. Be sure to bargain with the driver for the fare.

The resort does try to provide entertainment for the guests...however, it seems most guests are not interested. There was karoake the first night...lots of fun. And the young lady who runs it has a fabulous voice! They also had trivia...our group was the only ones to show, until others heard us having such a good time. There is shuffleboard, horseshoes, ping-pong (they need new paddles!). We did not try the excursions being offered or the watersports (jet skis, etc)

Overall, it is a nice place...just wish they would invest a little bit into it. It would make such a difference.

Hint: If you are arriving by ship, do not take their shuttle bus to the resort and back again. We waited over an hour for everyone on the ship to get to the bus and then waited over 50 minutes for the bus to show up at the resort to bring us back to the ship. We should have taken a cab each way.

Room Tip: Send an email to the resort and ask for an ocean view room.

Stayed with my wife and children for a week. Room and resort were ok. The fact that it was steps from the ocean was the biggest bonus.

Pool was nice and bar/ restaurant at pool was a nice touch ... although overall service is slow and unnatentive ... but that is the theme of the island
