“Beautiful Beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We stayed a week at this resort and overall had a pretty good experience. We couldn't have asked for more when it came to the beautiful beach the property sat on and the nice availability of chairs it had for the guests. We also ate some fabulous food at Chef Benny's down the beach a bit. I really wouldn't recommend the restaurant as the food was okay and the service was extremely slow.

You get one free trip to the grocery store a week, so get what you can the first time. Free trips also to Port Lucaya every day was nice. They have several times throughout the day that leave the resort and pick you up at the Port. Very friendly bus drivers and taxi drivers in the area.

The only bad report we had was agreeing to listen to the time share presentation for free gifts. They were very rude and we can say that we have never been treated so poorly by any time share staff anywhere!! Stay far away from those people. The male manager was the worst and stated to us "I will renege on the free gifts if you didn't come here with an open mind". While that doesn't sound bad, it was the way he said it and treated us when saying "NO!".

Yes the beach is nice, but this is a two star resort at best. When you arrive you have to go through the Interval Time Share people before you register. We went to the presentation and it did sound good. We purchased it because we had seven days to cancel WITHOUT PENALITY. After discussing it without a salesman staring at us we decided to cancel the next day. That costed us $60.00 then thay are refunding all but $630.00 for a processing fee. This is theft period, and being disputed. Next, they made us move twice, and each room was a fire hazard. My wife could not open the sliding glass padio door. I had to lift each door out of the track to open it. There are no activities here and you need a car, bus, or taxie to go anywhere. This could be a four star with some TLC and some entertainment. Oh, the bar, the people who work there are unhappy and complain. They pour your drink through a measuring device so no matter how much you may tip they can not pour you a decent drink. The food also sucks ! Save your money and go to Playta del Carmen Mexico where you are treated well. Checking in was three hours for us, and one couple complained it took them five hours to get to their room. All week all we heard was complaints from the guests and staff. Aparently they have not had a pay raise for several years and it shows.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

Ths is not a five star resort but for the price is an excellent value The resort is right on a beautifull beach where you can relax and enjoy the calm warm waters. Bring your snorkeling equipment as there is good snorkeling for free right from your resort. The place is clean with very freindly and happy staff. They even supply a shuttle to the market twice a week and also shuttle you to port lagaya evey hour from 9;00 til 6;00 Can't say enough about this place it's great as long as your not looking for 5 star resorts

Room Tip: get an ocean view and fall to sleep listening to the waves

I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Island Seas Resort on Grand Bahama Island. The restaurant served great food at reasonable prices, the condo was clean and the beach was fantastic. Additionally, the security agents were very vigilant about ensuring the safety of the tourists on the beach and on the grounds of the resort.

I would like to give a special "Thank You" to Mr. Saunders, the Front Desk Supervisor. He is a respectful, hard-working gentleman who takes his responsibilities very seriously.

The beach at this resort is absolutley amazing, with a white sandy beach and crystal clear water! The food at the resort was very tasty and kid friendly - I have two very picky eaters and they were both happy with the meals. The accomodation was roomy and it was nice to have a kitchen, if not only for the fridge to hold cold drinks. The bed could use a new mattress as could the pull out sofa but we were only there for a short time so it was no big deal. This was only part one of our trip with the other part being in Florida and DisneyWorld/SeaWorld. My kids picked this as the favourite part of their trip by far! The staff were so friendly as were all those we met on the Island. The island overall is incredible clean.

The pros are really just the beach, the beach at Island Seas Resort is very nice and better than the eastern beaches at Lucaya, less crowded.

The cons are many! This resort is a timeshare but you can rent the rooms via expedia, etc. As soon as you sign in you will get hassled for the timeshare presentation, we said no firmly but for 2 weeks we were constantly hounded for a presentation, we were called in our room, we were asked on the beach and we were asked as we walked around the grounds, pretty tacky all in all.

We were told that we would be upgraded to an ocean view since we had a baby with us, but when they were sure that we were not interested in a timeshare they asked us to move after week one, again tacky. We were told we had to pay taxes even though I had prepaid, at first it was $45 a night then $30 then after they "FOUND" my paperwork that showed prepaid they let it go.

We were also constantly hounded by the timeshare owners (really they don't own anything other than the sheep like idea that they actually do own something) and everyone wanted to know what we paid per night, again pretty tacky, but we offered up the info to wide eyes since the nightly price was cheaper than the timeshare price at any level and time of timeshare.

You are asked to wear a colored bracelet indicating what level of sheep you actually are, I never wore one.

Security is a joke, had a Lexus passenger ask me if I wanted weed inside the resort gates in front of my room.

The place is also caters more to the geriatric crowd which isn't bad if you are older, it is just kind of a downer watching mobility wheelchairs buzzing around while on vacation.

I look back at the wonderful morning walks on the beach but as far as the resort goes I will never go back.

Stayed there as a timeshare exchange Jan 2013, 2 weeks in a 1 bedroom apartment
The resort is friendly, great beach, good service
There are units on both sides of the road, we were on the beach side, which is better

Freeport is not a great location for much except fishing. The town is experiencing difficulties

Room Tip: rooms on the beach side and ground level are best
