I was in the Bahamas in August and was lucky enough to get a private tour of the Garden of the Groves - they were virtually destroyed by hurricane Wilma and had since been closed. Erika Gates of Kayak Nature Tours has recently taken over management of the gardens and her dedication and love of nature shines through! She has lovingly restored the gardens to their former glory - in fact I don't remember them ever looking so good. They are now a beautiful setting for weddings again. I would defeinatley recommend a trip to the gardens now that they are open again - just make sure that you take a guided tour since Erika's guides go into great detail about the history and forna of the gardens.

“Something nice to do while in the Bahamas”

I have been there twice and thought that, all in all, it was something nice to do while in the Bahamas. It is a very affordable walk through nice grounds and the birds and animals are entertaining to look at. I enjoy quiet walks, so if you aren't into this, then I wouldn't advise you to take the tour. We happened to see a very lovely wedding party while walking through and that was a plus! The flowers were in bloom so this tour gives you a good idea of the outdoor foliage in that area.
