Let me begin by saying that the Timeshare agency that sent us here touted the place as being a premier accomodation in a great location...NOT! There weren't any restaurants nearby, which is terrible unless you want to settle for the bland, overpriced food in the hotel restaurant.
There were cockroaches outside my room door...luckily they didn't make their way inside the room, eek! Not to mention the stray sogs on the adjoining street who barked all night long.
The beach is also far away.
Stay elsewhere if at all possible.

I am a little late to write this review but here goes

Hotel- It was ok, the room was tiny with and uncomfortable bed. It didn't have a refrigerator which was annoying.

Area- Was very boring. Nothing to do but get on the bus and go to the port everyday, for food and the beach.

Overall if you are cheap and want to say that you went to the Bahamas, I would recommend this particular location. I will say that we stayed there for days for under $200. I am ashamed to say this (LOL) but it was a fax machine vacation. Boy you sure do get what you pay for!!

We stayed at the Island Palm Resort over the weekend of February 6 and 7. The property had been closed for renovation, and it had just reopened; the big restaurant was still closed, so we ate at the pool bar snack bar. Great rum drinks!

The property isn’t fancy, but we had been informed of that (it’s more like a Ramada Inn or nice Day’s Inn). The rooms and grounds are very clean, and the pool is very nice. The rooms – not fancy, but clean and comfortable. Plenty of towels. We needed more coffee for the in room coffee maker, and we did have to call twice – island time is a bit slow, but the staff was very nice. Some Irish guy was berating the staff because he expected four star; if you want that, then don’t take it out on the staff if you didn’t read up, but I guess he was frustrated after that long trip.

The staff recommended Geneva’s (down the street, good Bahamian food) and la Med (at Port Lucaya), and both restaurants were very good. There is a shuttle from the Island Palm to their sister property beach (nice beach!) and to Port Lucaya. We took a cab back from Lucya one night, but it was only $12; I heard people complain about cab prices at night, but we thought that they were very reasonable.

The hotel is quiet at night, but we kind of liked that. We came back from the casino and went right to bed. After being inside a lot over the last few months, we took in a lot of sun, and sleep came early. If you want nightlife, then the Island Palm isn’t the place for you.

We have cell phone service with AT&T, and our cell phone worked. Some people did not have service, so check before you go. Take a water bottle with you; the water tastes great, and you get dehydrated in the sun. Watch out when you go out to eat, as the tip is included in the bill. Take snack food with you (peanuts, candy bars, trail mix), and bring sunscreen.

The Island Palm isn’t fancy, but it is clean and comfortable, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They booked excursions and dinner reservations for us, and they were very helpful with anything that we needed.

Thanks to the staff of the Island Palm Resort for a great vacation!

My friends and I booked a week of vacation staying at Nassau. During the week, we flew from Nassau to Freeport to do Kayak tour and Jeep sefari tour. We only stayed at Freeport for 1 night. We thought this hotel looked very decent had some decent reviews. It was $79 per room per night. We booked 2 rooms (room 221 & 219). The room looked exactly like the picture. I was please with that. However, the beds have some bedbugs! All of my friends and I woke up next morning with what looked sort of like mosquito bites all over our body. We initially thought it could be mosquito bites. We then did a little googling to confirm, and we then learn the swollen reddish sharp bump on our body were bed bug bites. We tried to address the issue to the conceierge but the lady simply apologize and couldn't do more for us! Thank god we only had to stay 1 night there! If you are staying at this hotel, make sure you check the bed for bugs.

Also, the hotel is very dead, surprisingly, they don't have beach towel for us when we needed.

What I like the most about this hotel is they let us check in early! =D We caught an eary flight to freeport, arrived at 8am! We were able to check in right away w/o any problem. Normally, hotel has a given time for guests to check in. It's almost impossible to check in in the am, but this hotel let us! That was the plus!
