Reading some of the other reviews about this hotel made me wonder if they stayed at the same place! We found the room spacious and clean, the staff helpful and friendly, the restaurant good (ok, maybe not great), and the location convenient.

This hotel is not located directly on the beach, but there are convenient beach options available, including a short walk to the adjacent property and a 5-minute ferry ride to a really nice beach. Both beaches are spectacular. The hotel's three pools (plus heated Jacuzzi) are very attractive, with comfortable lounge chairs and tables all around.

The complimentary continental breakfast by one of the pools is adequate, plus they deliver a small basket of treats (plus a faxed NY Times summary) to the room every morning. The on-site hotel, as I mentioned, is good and reasonably priced. If you don't like it, the Port Lucaya market is a short walk by the marina, and has at least 30 restaurants to choose from.

Our suite was very comfortable and as big as a one-bedroom apartment. Someone else mentioned the polished concrete floor, which I found to be not only clean, but also really attractive. My only (minor) complaint about the accommodations is that the water temperature in the shower took a long time to change after you turned the hot/cold knob. That could explain some other reviewers' complaint about the hot water - they just didn't wait long enough!

All in all, we were very pleased with this hotel and had a great vacation there. I recommend it highly.

Went down recently for a weekend and have to say, not only do I hate Nassau, I really felt dissapointed by this hotel. First and foremost, when you go to the Bahamas, you want to stay by the ocean. This hotel is not oceanfront. The pool is eh (i.e., just okay) and the rooms, drab. As a matter of fact, we did not have hot water in our room for three days straight. The staff was aware, they were just working on "island time." Clearly they knew they were in the wrong because they discounted my room due to the situation. Agree also with other posts that the onsite restaurant is limited at best and the staff is rude. At the hotel/restaurant bar, I ordered a drink (which btw includes tip always) and when I did not include an additional tip, the bartender said, "Where's my tip?" If you must go to Nassau, stay across the street at the oceanfront hotels.

View is nice just like another traveler mentioned. It is also from a short walking distance from a shopping plaza. However, do not eat at the Hotel's Sabor Restaurant (even though free complementary drinks are given to you when you register). It takes an average of 1 hour to get your food or they would not have what you want to eat. My room had a queen and a single bed separated only 14 inches apart and not the best to sleep in. There is a boat that takes you to a beach owned by a timeshare 5 minutes away (just do not talk to the sales people). It is better you use the public beach located between the two largest hotels at Lucaya, but you would have to do some walking to get there. The only very disappointing part of my room was the floor. Since it is made of polished concrete, maybe it needs special mops, because my feet were always black from walking barefoot around the room.

Annual Girls Dive Trip

We chose Pelican Bay for our annual girls dive trip mainly because of the location to Unexo Dive. With a group of 12 we had 5 regular rooms and a suite. Our suite was incredible. Beautiful view of the bay, a coffee maker in the room, fridge, couch bedroom that slept 3 and a fabulous balcony overlooking one of their three pools. The resort is super clean and quiet. Good food at their restaurant and many adjacent places to shop and eat. Our taxi driver/guide to the island was Paddy and she really made the trip compete showing us around the island and making sure we were safe where ever we went. They have really comfy poolside chairs overlooking the harbor. Unexo is the place to go diving with and the shark experience is a must see as well as their dolfin adventures. I can not wait to go back.

Loved the property. It was small, low key and not a big resort, which we were looking to avoid. The property was not overly landscaped/groomed. The hotel staff (front desk and bar) were not not especially welcoming. For instance, when I asked about the day's weather, she referred me to the business center to look it up on the internet...instead of checking it for me on the computer that was there at the desk and that she was looking at at the time! Also not very helpful with finding activities other than referring us to a book they had prepared. Bartenders at the restaurant... also not very friendly. One person who went far above and beyond was Stanley the bellman who helped me located Capt AJ. We couldn't find a number for him so Stanley offered to go to his house! Sure enough, he got the info and put me in touch w Capt AJ. All of this said, I would recommend the hotel but don't expect much help or a welcoming attitude from the staff.
