My husband and I just arrived home from 4 lovely days at the Royal Bahamian. Before I sink back into reality, I thought I would review the last few days.

I was a bit disappointed that the room was not ready when we arrived but we did have an early arrival flight so perhaps that was the reason. We were, however, offered cool towels and refreshments,(including the BEST chocolate chip cookies) while we waited. We decided to have lunch at the Spices buffet---sat outside in very comfy chairs, and enjoyed every morsal of food......I had a fresh salad--with great veggies and dessert consisted of many different fresh fruits--as well as pastries. Hot entrees were also available but we did not partake.
Monday evening we ate at the Baccarat (French) Restaurant. I had the special of the day which was delicious sea bass. My husband had ravioli with shrimp and lobster. Both entrees were predeeded by apetizers, salad, and soup. Desserts followed. During the meal, the waiter offered us any beverages (and as many) as we wanted.
After dinner we met up with old friends and talked until it was time for bed--although there was entertainment if we wanted to see a show or sing songs in the piano bar.
Tuesday we went back to the buffet for breakfast and had delicious white omelets, fresh fruit and extremely good coffee.
We then decided to go on a city/shopping tour--even though we had been in Nassau several times before--we saw sights we had never seen. We stopped on Bay Street and were given 3 hours to walk around. The old straw market had burned dowm and is being rebuilt--but there was a make-shift one there which was fun to walk through. After buying my grandchildren some gifts, we just took in the views and waited for the bus to return.
We went back to Sandals for lunch and ate at their Royal Cafe ( a beachside cafe with salads and grilled items). My hamburger and salad were great. After reading and resting and taking pictures, we went back and got ready for dinner which we had at the Crystal Room. I had one of the best pieces of prime rib ever..cooked perfectly. At 10pm--a special treat--a chocolate buffet---a must see---and what a treat!!
Wednesday morning--after spending 2 hours in the gym (a wonderful modern exercise room with state of the art machines--facing the water)---I had breakfast again at the buffet (why change something that's perfect)....did more reading, relaxing, picture taking, and actually watching 2 couples getting amrried, we had lunch at the Pizza restaurant---right off the beach. Personal pizzas included pepperoni, plain and yummy vegetable.
Wednesday night we ate at a banquet hall which was just lovely.

Sandals is special for their service. You ask a question or directions and the staff takes you personally to that location. Maid service was excellent. We stayed in the top room (concierge) of the Manor Bldg--and although it was a lovely oceanfront room with an gorgeous view--I would prefer any room in the Windsor Bldg (where I stayed 4 years ago when I was there last). The Manor Bldg is a bit old--and even though it has been refurbished--I prefer the newer, more modern interior of the Windsor. Our friends had a butler room in the Royal Village--but they said it was a bit farther from the pool area and there is no ocean view at all. They too said they would have preferred the Windsor Bldg.

Activities included pool games, volleyball, snorkling trips, watersports, excursions (free) to their offshore island, billiards, shuffleboard, etc. We enjoyed the activity of relaxing, best of all.

So, whether old or young, saying your first vows or renewing old ones..Sandals Royal Bahamian is an excellent choice of a resort. If you'd like to contact me about anything, please feel free to do so.

This was my second All Inclusive resort style vacation, and we will be visiting another Sandals resort in the future it is only a matter of where and when. The service that we recieved was second to none. Sandals made our honeymoon amazing. The butler service was great, they made every day a new experience. From the exclusive dining privliges to the champagne and rose petals on the bed every night it was as romantic as it gets. The staff was also great. They made sure they met every desire. We cannot wait to return to Sandals.

  • Liked — Lots of space by the pools or on the beaches. You could always find a place to relax.

We thought we were planning the perfect "Weddingmooon" only to be met with disappointment and grief.
We booked our trip to Sandals Royal Bahamian through their webpage. We paid for all the upgrades and felt that we were going to have the time of our lives.
We bought a limo transfer from the airport to the hotel which coast an additional $250 through Sandals. When we got to the Sandals desk at the airport, our limo was not there and Sandals had no record of this, even after everything was confirmed prior to us arriving. We had receipts (thank God) and after arguing with the Sandals greeter she made some phone calls and ultimately sent us in a taxi. This is just the start...

When we arrived to the hotel, we were greeted with smiles and champagne. We were given our room (The Manor Grand Lux with Private Patio) which we paid for and booked online. This room was steps from the beach. When we entered the room, we were hit with the smell of fresh paint. The room felt damp and the walls were still sticky. The mirrors had not been hung and it was like the painters just left. This room was ice cold and the bedding felt damp. These rooms have no heater, so you just have to turn the air off. My wife wore her sweater and the bathrobe to bed to keep warm.
We were kept up during the night by employees going in and out of the service entrance adjacent to our room. The door banged all night. The next morning, my wife got up with a cold...coughing a lot. Maintenance kept coming to the room to finish their work and housekeeping had to be reminded to service the room...it was like we were forgotten or did not exist.
In order to let the room air out and warm up, we opened our patio doors only to find painters on the patio. We could not even enjoy the view and private patio we paid for because it too was being painted.
We complained to the concierge and we were moved to another room, which was also just painted. The paint smell in this room was not as bad. However, there was an ever present smell of a musty dampness, and wetness about both rooms. We bought candles and air freshener to mask the smell because there was nothing they could do about it.
On our third night our room was without power and we had to call to remind them that it needed to be fixed. On several nights, there was no hot water to shower, again we called to complain and were told that they will notify maintenance. Our shower had mold, missing grout and was out dated. The hot water would scald you one second and then go cold the next.
The food was okay, and throughout our ten days there the menus never changed. The Pools are nice and the beach is loaded with bugs or fleas, so bring spray. We both got bites all over our legs, arms and face.
Our wedding.... My wife paid to have an orchid flower for her hair. This was confirmed through the wedding planner at Sandals and at the booking office. When it was time to get her hair done, the flower was not there so she had to settle for other flowers.
The employees are friendly and they try to be accommodating but when they look at you it looks like they want to slit your throat...with a smile of course.
The private island is nice, but it too is loaded with fleas or mosquitoes. Overall, not our best experience. It was nice to go home.
While speaking to other guests at the resort, we learned that we paid far too much for our accommodations. As much as double what others paid for similar rooms and accommodations. I don't know why or how this happens.
In all, with all of our problems, Sandals never offered any refund or upgrade, only apologies. Buyers beware!

  • Liked — The view was great....thats it.
  • Disliked — Mold, bugs, out dated accommodations, lack of concern for guests.

Our stay at the Sandals Resort Bahamian was the best! Very relaxing and romantic. For anyone looking to reconnect and enjoy a romantic getaway Sandals is the place. The atmosphere is laid back and stress free. The swim up bar was excellent! Food was fantastic. We couldn't have asked for a better trip. Well besides the fact that American Airlines lost our luggage our stay at the Resort was perfect!

My wife and I went to Nassau Bahamas and stayed at the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort from Nov15-22,08.
We received innumerable bed bug bites. They showed up after the trip and were diagnosed by two different physicians. My wife had over a hundred itchy welts. We had an exterminator come to our home and he concurred these are definitively bed bug bites. He said we may have contaminated our own home by unwittingly bringing them home in our luggage.
The hotel manager denies they have bed bugs. We've never had bed bug bites in our lives. We went direct from our home to the resort and returned direct as well. We only stayed at the Sandals resort. To have it denied by the manager and the potentiality of contaminating our home is unconscionable. It could cost thousands of dollars to exterminate our home if it becomes infested as a result of this resort vacation.
What a way to ruin and remember a 25th wedding anniversary.
