We arrived July 9, 2002. Our destination was Paradise Island. We booked a room for the week, at the Sheraton grand Resort. They upgraded out room to the honeymoon suite. The hotel was a four or five star resort. If you want quit and a relaxing vacation, stay at the Sheraton Grand. However, if you want constant action, noise and if you have children, you might want to stay at the Atlantis. That is a first class place. However, Value for your dollar, if you choose to stay on Paradise Island, stay at the Sheraton Grand. The food we good and somewhat reasonable for the Bahamas. The service was excellent with the exception of the beachfront; they should have more wait staff. The beachfront is fantastic. The water is clear with a blue, green color.
Activates abound on this island. I rented a motorcycle for two hours and cruised Nassau. Invigorating. be sure that you are aware that you drive on the left side of the street. It was not a problem for me to get used to this.
I have read that the bus is the best way to see the island. Maybe, my wife and I choose to rent a car. A cute extra small Kia. It was 65 + 14 = $79 in total. It was well worth it. We explored most of the island in the day and 1/2 we had the automobile. There is so many activates, that it did not behoove us to keep the car for longer that the 1 and 1/2 days. The weather was warm, mid 80's. Next time we will go around March through June. Be sure to checkout the speedboat tour, the dolphin encounter, the boat ride with a 15 feet hull, so that you can view the reef without getting wet. So many activates one week is not enough.
