We arrived July 9, 2002. Our destination was Paradise Island. We booked a room for the week, at the Sheraton grand Resort. They upgraded out room to the honeymoon suite. The hotel was a four or five star resort. If you want quit and a relaxing vacation, stay at the Sheraton Grand. However, if you want constant action, noise and if you have children, you might want to stay at the Atlantis. That is a first class place. However, Value for your dollar, if you choose to stay on Paradise Island, stay at the Sheraton Grand. The food we good and somewhat reasonable for the Bahamas. The service was excellent with the exception of the beachfront; they should have more wait staff. The beachfront is fantastic. The water is clear with a blue, green color.
Activates abound on this island. I rented a motorcycle for two hours and cruised Nassau. Invigorating. be sure that you are aware that you drive on the left side of the street. It was not a problem for me to get used to this.
I have read that the bus is the best way to see the island. Maybe, my wife and I choose to rent a car. A cute extra small Kia. It was 65 + 14 = $79 in total. It was well worth it. We explored most of the island in the day and 1/2 we had the automobile. There is so many activates, that it did not behoove us to keep the car for longer that the 1 and 1/2 days. The weather was warm, mid 80's. Next time we will go around March through June. Be sure to checkout the speedboat tour, the dolphin encounter, the boat ride with a 15 feet hull, so that you can view the reef without getting wet. So many activates one week is not enough.

First of all I want to give this resort a 5 star rating. Never in my life have I ever seen a more beautiful place on earth! My husband and I had planned a 3 day trip and ended up extending it for 7 days. We arrived on March 5th and left on March 11th, 2002. You can't possibly see everything in 3 days. We stayed at the Royal Towers and we were completely amazed by the "attention to detail" that this hotel possessed. No expense was spared to say the least. It seemed that we could walk the hotels, the casino, the Crystal Court and the grounds a hundred times and still see something we didn't discover the times before. I was most amazed by The Dig. The sea life was incredible and the way they incorporated the "sunken city" in these aquariums is completely ingenius. The man who came up with the idea for this hotel was a genius himself! Another incredible site is the harbor. There were so many beautiful yachts. I could only imagine what it would be like to be that rich! There are alot of other things to do like parasailing, banana boat riding, renting sea-dos and boat excursions. The beaches are beautiful and the staff was more than accomodating. The Bahamians are of the friendliest type of people I've ever met. I could go on and on about this place but the one thing that I want to say the most is to "SAVE" up a lot of money and go at least one time. My husband and I are not of the wealthy type but we have decided that no matter what, we are going back again in 2 years. It is well worth it!

Just returned from Paradise Island, Nassau Bahamas. The island (formerly "Hog Island") is living up to it's new name. Paradise Island is great for tourist, shoppers, people wanting to relax...it covers it all. The area has been developed for tourist, the sidewalks are wide and easy to walk. There's a port within walking distance to catch a ferry to Nassau or outer islands, the cost is fair.

The Atlantis is the big attraction but they offer day passes to people staying at other resorts or hotels. That's nice.

Don't bother getting a rental car. I paid for it to be parked all week.
