“Everyone should go once!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

We just returned from a week at Harborside. We had a great time and our weather was fabulous. It was absolutely off season for us - about 75% in Harborside and 45% in the hotels. Marcia checked us in - and as first timers, she took a few extra minutes to show us around the property and talk about the activities offered.
- The cluster of Harborside buildings are in perfect proximity to the marina, Marina Village, a strip center with liquor store, bank, small straw market and Anthony's - a great restaurant.
- There are very few rooms with a "fabulous" view - so if that is important to you - stay somewhere else. We were in building 4 and loved our easy walk to the pool, marina, lobby and exit of property.
- The place is crawling with cheerful staff. Too many of them in fact :-)
- The pool is very large with a great children's area, outdoor ping pong, pool and shuffleboard. There is a kiddie pool.
- The Point Restaurant is available for BLD and there is a poolside drink station with icecream, hot dogs and wrap sandwiches.

The bus service to the other hotels was excellent - never really waited more than 5 minutes for a shuttle.

The reason I can't give this a 5 star is that there is no view, food and everything is too expensive, a little noisy, and our inability to quickly access a beach was unfortunate (3/4 mile walk after shuttle). The outdated furnishings didn't bother us and the bed was super comfy.

Room Tip: We were in Building 4 which was central to the property. Your check in date will dictate your build...

We are Starwood owners, and travel throughout the SVO system. It has been a few years since our last visit and were excited to return. We arrived on 1/2 and stayed five nights. This was an annual family vacation, we had a 1 bedroom lock off and two additional 1 bedrooms. Check-in was a little slow and confusing. We had asked for rooms not be on the 1st floor and to be as close as possible, well we were put on the 1st floor, but rooms were in the same building as close as possible, it was fine. All of the rooms overall were in acceptable condition, but the property is in need of upgrading. Some areas of carpeting and furniture as stained and need to be cleaned or replaced. The bathrooms could be cleaner, especially the condition of the tubs, the jacuzzi tubs either didn't work or barely worked. The kitchens were all operable, though many units were missing items, so the in room inventories were not adequate.
One of the rooms asked for extra towels as the lock off unit had 5 people, we were told that there would be a fee for extra towels. Paid for the internet and it did not work. When we spoke with the front desk, we were told they couldn't refund the charge until they spoke with tech support. We informed them that we spoke with them and they couldn't do anything. Again, the desk said they knew the system was not working properly, but they still had to verify if we used the service or not. Finally the manager said ok we will take it off.
We had issues trying to get towels and bracelets because is was out into the system wrong, well let's just say it was never taken care of, there is poor communication between departments (management) and although they say they will take care of it, it didn't A lot of empty promises.
The pool was nice and the staff is friendly, the shuttle drivers are great !!!
I hope they wake up and turn this property around before it's to late

Stayed at harbourside week of Jan 12, stayed in building 5 they were painting and upgrading the building, however the painters were pleasant and were unimposing. Resort is older but the staff were great. Brought a suitcase of non perishable items and ordered from the delivery service to the hotel room saved us hundreds of dollars. Atlantis is expensive but you know that going in would recommend this place, the accommodations are clean and moderate exactly what we expected.

We stayed in the condos and were very satisfied. Clean, well equipped and a nice view from our balcony. Weather was perfect.

One thing struck me and that was the VERY high cost of everything. Meals out, groceries and misc. stuff like beer and soda were OUTRAGEOUS. Made me wonder why people don't simply go to Sarasota, FL. You could stay at the Ritz, rent a car to get around and eat at a different restaurant for every meal and spend half what this trip to Nassau cost us. There are beautiful beaches in and around Sarasota including Siesta Key, always rated #1 or 2 best beach in the world. The Sarasota downtown is much more interesting than Nassau. An 18% gratuity is not automatically added to you restaurant bill so service is generally improved. Maybe gambling in Nassau is the main attraction, otherwise I'll take Sarasota every time. I admit that I live in Sarasota, but do the research for yourself and compre.

We are owners at Harborside and it pains me to not give the resort more than 3 stars. We were there over New Years and our stay was very disappointing. To start with I had e mailed the general manager since we were arriving late and asked that the unit we had on our deed for this platinum plus week be held for us. When we arrived that unit had been given to another party and we were told it was because the people in that unit decided to stay longer. During our stay I contacted the guests in that room and they stated that was not true. I asked if they were even owners at this resort and they declined to comment--that tells me they weren't. I followed up with this information after our return home and never got a reply.
We arrived later than normal and one of the people in our group of 4 was sick and didn't want them sharing the sofa bed--called for an extra set of sheets so that we could use the sofa cushions as a bed--took 3 calls and 3 hours to get the sheets.
Pool area--last year during our stay in January the pool area was closed for renovations--one of the things I assumed would be done was to fix the pool heater at Harborside as the pool was always cold and honestly didn't even realize it could be heated until I heard one of the items to be renovated was the pool heater. This visit pool continued to be cold--guess our maintenance fees which have more than doubled since purchase won't include heating the pool.
Went to towel hut several times to get towels and they were out.
Ate at the point and service was not only slow but I don't have an issue with that as long as food was served hot--but it wasn't.
One positive note there is one person who works at the front desk and I encountered several times at the resort greeted us with our names--even though she didn't check us in.
We own several weeks at Harborside and have been going for 12 plus years but I have to say it probably no longer takes the spot as our favorite vacation. Which makes me very sad!

Room Tip: Prepare to spend a lot of money on food--if staying here bring as many snacks as possible.

We stayed here for a week Jan 19-25. The accommodations were more than acceptable; however, everything here comes at a price. Entry to Atlantis is "included" with your stay (you have paid for it).
Having a kitchen was a huge plus as everything associated with Atlantis is severely overpriced...and capped off with an automatic 15% gratuity. Pack what you can and stop at the grocery or have Food Store 2 Go deliver to your room. Especially if you are traveling with kids/large family. It is very easy to spend several hundred $ a day on food and drinks if you rely on Atlantis for 2-3 meals.
We experienced a 90 minute wait time to check-in. Frustrating and not the best first impression, but forgivable given the number of people who arrived at the same time. Add to that, a water pipe had burst? shortly before our arrival so the staff was pretty taxed at that point. Water was restored quickly and we saw minimal disruption to toilets, sinks, etc.
Both TVs did not work for 3+ days and required numerous calls, service visits, and an eventual call to the hotel manager before it was resolved. We didn't come to the Bahamas to watch TV, but it was an inconvenience and a poor reflection of service overall. *As a note, this is the "norm" in most of the Caribbean. Nothing is urgent. It's a nice change of pace from the normal frantic pace back home, but not when it takes days for something that should only take an hour.
2 computers in the lobby to use the internet to check email and flight info was a nice thought if not always available without a wait. The sundry shop is expensive, but convenient when you need something in a pinch. The entire resort staff could not be more pleasant. Being able to get your towels and Atlantis wristbands here rather than waiting in lines at the Towers was a huge convenience. The games (billiards, ping pong, shuffleboard) were great and always available withing a short waiting time. The pool is huge and was fairly empty.
Overall, the islands, weather, food, people, and overall beauty of the Bahamas makes this a wonderful destination. Harborside Resort didn't take away from that, but didn't add much either.

Room Tip: Rooms furthest from the pool will be quieter, but less convenient

Our recent New Year's trip to Atlantis was fantastic (as always). We love the people, especially at Harborside, where everyone goes out of their way to make us feel welcome. We really appreciate the convenience and flexibility of having a kitchen- we can eat out when we want to, and stay in when we want to. Food Store 2 Go has made it even easier- we had a wonderful experience this year, and Shari went out of her way to make sure everything was right with our order. We ordered ahead, then called when we checked in- and had a fully stocked fridge in less than an hour!

Room Tip: Rent from an owner using Redweek - rates are much better than through the Atlantis resort- and no re...
