My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Beach Tower for our 30th wedding anniversary, from May 13 - May 17. I will give my review first followed by my wife's.

Arrival: Free shuttle from the airport to Coral Towers courtesy of my travel agent Apple Vacations. (If you are staying at the Beach Tower, the Coral Towers is the hub for all the shuttles and excursions.) The ride to Atlantis is about 40 minutes. It's scenic both in the beauty of the island and the local residences you pass. On the way, you will pass other resorts on Nassau, (Cable Beach, Sandals, Breezes, Crystal Palace, and dozens of smaller ones along the way.) Once you get to the bridge crossing, you're up and over onto Paradise Island, where the Atlantis Resort awaits you.

Check-In: We arrived around noontime, so the room was not yet ready. Check-in took about 15-20 minutes and your luggage is put in storage until your room is ready. This was an excellent time to explore the layout of the Atlantis. Here's a tip for you, get a map from the front desk and then just start to explore the facility.

The Layout: Okay, so you have that map in hand. Hold on to it! There is nothing to be intimidated about. The property is large, but you can navigate and not be overwhelmed. JUST TAKE YOUR TIME! Enjoy your exploration. Decide from the map what you would like to see and then head straight for that location. Along the way you will come across winding paths, bridges, lagoons, gazebos, pools, huts, and so on, but all of this eye candy is part of your exploration. I soon discovered that if you wanted to walk from one end to the other (Beach Tower to the Royal Towers), the most direct and shortest way is along the beach path which gives you an excellent bearing of the entire layout of this resort. The path is paved and hugs the beaches and coves. It's easy to navigate and walk, not having any stairs or obstacles to contend with.

The Room: My room was ready by 1:30 PM, so with map in hand, we went to the Beach Tower from the Coral Tower, staying inside where all the hotels are connected with corridors of shops and restaurants. Our room was on the 8th floor. The first thing I did was to look at the view from our terrace, and unfortunately, the view was of the hotels rooftops. The next day the Concierge called my room to ask how everything was. I said my wife and I are having a wonderful time, but our view was not what we expected. The Concierge said, "Well why didn't you say so." She told me to come down to the lobby in 5 minutes and she would upgrade me immediately. Our next room was on the 5th floor and we had an ocean and pool view that took your breath away!!!

Money: Allocate a minimum of $250.00 spending money per person per day. This will cover just about everything and then some if you are on a budget. Of course, you can spend more, but $250.00 will give you comfort and a little cushion should you have a desire to take an excursion or visit the casino or do a little shopping. This will also include meals and drinks if you are frugal. Some days I needed less, other days I spent more..... It's also a good idea for you to pack bottles of water, snacks, and even beer in your luggage and bring it with you to avoid the high cost of the mini bar. Oh, if you are going to drink and buy beer there, please try their local beer, Kalik. It's surprisingly good. In fact, I'm switching to it once my beer distributor orders it.

Summary: I will keep this short cause my wife wants to give a review also. I will just say that the beach is clean and fantastic. You can snorkel, Jet Ski, Parasail or just soak in the sun. NO PROBLEM with beach chairs, they're all over the place.

The food is great, check out Bimini Road, Johnny Rockets, Murray's Deli, Marina Pizzeria, and for great economy, Anthony's Grill right outside the Marina. Senor Frogs downtown is a fun joint too...

The Mandara Spa is a MUST, offering a wide selection of massages including a couples room where two of you can experience a massage together in your own private spa room.

Definitely go on a half day sailing and snorkeling excursion. The FLYING CLOUD Catamaran is the BEST! Great crew, fun, relaxing, including an open cash bar. Sailing back to port they play Calypso music, encouraging everyone to get up and dance. Jokers Wild comedy club is a gas....

All in all, DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY!

It's the wife now.... This is truly Paradise. I've been to many hotels all over the states & Europe, and Ive never come across such professional, friendly staff. This place is wonderful not just because of the beauty of the place, but the wonderful people. We felt so comfortable. We never had a bad meal, the food every where is excellent.
My only surprise that I want to pass on is that when we went downtown to Nassau, every shop, every cafe, even Burger King closes at 6pm. So if you want to go there, where there are many stores, go early. We took a cab from the hotel, only $4 per person.
We had a great vacation!

This hotel is a huge marketing gimic. The rooms are not worth the money. I've stayed at some much nicer hotels for half the price.

The service was poor. We were shuffled around like all the other guests. There was no personalization to my experience here. I felt like a number, not a guest.

I arrived a day after the Atlantis opened their new tower, The Cove. Atlantis needs to focus on fixing up their other rooms, instead of building more. We stayed in the Coral towers, and our bathroom was extremly dated. Our white counter in our bathroom was stained orange in the sink and near the faucet from the water. The bath tub had the smallest edges and our shampoo kept falling off. Twice, housekeeping didn't leave us a bath mat towel for when we got out of the shower, so we had to use a small hand towel.

Ants were all over our room and I often woke up with them crawling around my bed. When I contacted management, they said there was nothing they could do about it.

It rained one day while we were here, and found it extremly boring. The hotel doesn't have much for adults when it rains. You can go to the casino, shop, or eat. All expensive activities.

The food is extremly expensive, but you have to expect that when going to any Caribbean island. A grilled cheese and fries costs $12. A burger and fries costs $14 (with a water to drink). The soda costs as much as a beer or mixed drink.

The hotel offers 15 free minutes of internet a day per guest, but that comes with a long wait, because they have four computers, and 50 people wanting to use them. You have to be there when your name is called or you loose your place in line, so you have to wait... not worth it.

The beach is also very crowded. It's narrow, so you have to walk down a ways if you want a little privacy.

Also, smoking is allowed inside in the Bahamas, so if you have an issue with this, the Bahamas might not be the place for you. People smoke while walking in the hallways, sitting around in a lobby, shopping, and in the casino (expected). People are also allowed to walk around with alcohol. The Atlantis does a good job of cleaning up the cigerettes and cigar remnents.

Overall, I would not pay to return here. If I were to return it would have to be if my work held a conference here and they paid for it. Otherwise, it's not worth the money. I can think of some much nicer hotels on other islands that can give you a much better experience for half the cost.

BEWARE. Do not stay at the Atlantis if you are booked in either the Coral or Beach Towers!!!!! These are rundown elderly glorified super 8's within the resort. Not part of the original property of Atlantis but purchased and included into the resort. Bugs, mold and filfthy bathrooms will be included in your stay at no extra charge. We were there with a group of over 100 people. Many of us had deplorable rooms and service. Or lack of service. No hospitality to be found at the desk. They simply don't care. All of this for $500 a night with out even eating or drinking anything. Will never return. Will never recommend to anyone. Spend your money wisely elsewhere. You will only feel like you were completely ripped off.

Just returned from a fabulous trip to the Atlantis with our daughter (4) and son (1). This is a wonderful resort for families! I don't get the negative reviews here, we had nothing negative to say! A few minor problems (will get to those) but nothing that would keep us from coming back and they were all resolved!

The grounds are beautiful and very clean. The pools are very VERY clean as well. Our children loved all the pools and slides. I love the fact that they have slides for even the youngest of travelers and the free use of life jackets. We never had any trouble getting chairs by the pools.

Cove beach is immaculate. Very quiet, calm and enjoyable. Again, very clean. The entire property is clean.

Our room (Royal Towers) was also very clean and larger than most hotels. We had a lovely view of the marina. Prior to leaving for vacation, we were upgraded (free) to the Royal Towers. We had originally booked the Coral Towers. The villas, next to the Coral towers looked very nice. More of an 'islandy' feel nestled in among the tropical gardens.

All the employees that we interacted with were very polite, respectful and friendly and gave us good service.

We ate mostly at the buffets and had good food. Nothing was bad, nothing spectacular either. We did not venture to the upscale restaurants with the kids!

The negatives:
Upon arriving to our room, we were greeted with one king sized bed, for four of us. Even though two days earlier I had confirmed two queen size beds. My husband brought the error to their attention and they told him nothing was available and to call back in the morning. I called back a few hours later and stated WE NEEDED two beds, and they immediately had a room for us to move to.

On the third day, a strange smell was coming from the toilet. Seemed they were having some kind of backventing problem.

Paid for internet service via the tv in the room. THeir own website locked up on us and caused the TV to not work properly. They tried to reset it twice and it did not work. This was our last night there and they refunded us the fee.

Minor negatives, nothing that would cause us to not return.

Overall, the resort is beautiful (did I mention it is also clean?) and fun. Yes, it is expensive, but not if you are prepared for it. And not any more expensive then other places I have stayed.

  • Liked — The cleanliness and beautiful grounds. Marine life and variety of things to do.
  • Disliked — The limited elevators and ramps for strollers. Difficult to get around.

after reading many of the reviews i was really worried about how expensive it was going to be.

my boyfriend and i found a great deal at hotels.com where the rooms were 50% off!!! so we booked the coral towers for $180 a night, what a great deal, especially when its compared to over $300/night.

we arrived and tried to check in an hour early at the coral towers, and before my boyfriend and i were able to ask if they had any free upgrades available (thanks to the advice of one of the reviews we read) , they told us we had a free upgrade to royal towers. seeing how nice they were, we tried to make small talk to the receptionist at royal tower and compliment her....by doing so she gave us another FREE upgrade to a room with a better view; thus we only paid $180 for a room that would have been well over $400/ night.

---> soo it NEVER HURTS TO ASK FOR UPGRADES!!!!

once we got to our room i understood why so many people were sooo dissappointed and mad about the price and quality of the room they got. the room was not worth $400 if you paid the full price...so try to find good deals for hotels...pretty much the $400 /night is used to pay for all the amenities....which are all worth it!!!!

the pools were gorgeous...the beach was nice....the casino was very small when compared to las vegas not worth wasting your money

since my boyfriend and i are both young (age 24), we dont have alot of money to spend so we ate at murrays, the pizza place right next door to it, and marketplace (a buffet)....many of the top restaurants are really expensive for those with money

i would strongly recommend booking the POWERBOAT ADVENTURES ahead of time...this was well worth $190/per person (book online 1 week ahead and get 10% off) that's where you get to experience the most BEAUTIFUL aqua blue water!!!!!!!! they provide lunch free open bar alll day....you get to feed the stingrays and watch the shark feeding 10 feet in front of you...it was amazing!!!!!! i would say this was the best part of the whole trip.........

atlantis isnt for older couple who wants to be away from crowds....atlantis is a family place...but for young couples like us that love to goof around and still enjoy the romantic scenery its perfect

hope my entry was helpful!!!!

  • Liked — only allowing those who stayed at atlantis to enter the pools and rides
  • Disliked — expensive food and small casino
