We arrived the day before New Years Eve. My two sisters, myself and a friend shared a room with two double beds on the 10th floor. The room was clean and modern with a nice tiled floor and an immaculate bathroom and shower (no mold). We actually slept on the sheets because they passed inspection by all four of us. I would have brought my own firm pillow, though. The view had a lot to be desired. From our room, we could see the entire lot next to us which looked like a fensed-in dumping ground but that was okay since we did not spend much time in there. Ac, fridge and safe worked fine. I don't like a real hot shower anyways so I didn't notice if there was an issue with the temperature.

We went down to the pool immediately to get something to eat at the bar and were surprised to find it was crowded with a lot of college kids (athletes) there while training for their school's swim teams. My sister had vacationed there before, so she knew some locals, including "Action" Jackson who took us out on his boat for some snorkling along side the Booze Cruise the next day.

There isn't a whole lot to do during the day once you've snorkled or dived or taken a day trip to Rose Island (okay but over-rated). Night life is limited to the (bad with the exception of Action) live entertainment paid for by the hotel or the one club location in seedy part of town called Senior Frogs which was over-run with local guys hitting on the tourists.

The food was like someone else said, cafeteria quality. Breakfast is the best meal if you like omlettes because they will make them for you while you wait. You do at least have a lot of choices, mac & cheese, chicken or burgers. I was disappointed that they hardly served any seafood at all while we were there. I was anxious to try some local catch. Free frozen drinks were available by the pool bar all day long. They ran out of towels every day we were there, by noon and did not replace them.

The staff was quite friendly but I assumed that it was because we were with some of the locals. A bunch of them took us to the Junkanoo in town. They were careful to watch out for us as there were some interesting charaters there that night. We did see some other tourists, but mostly locals. The parade went on from midnight to 9 A.M. but we could only stay awake until 5 A.M.

Where do I begin? I went in March of 2005. First of all this resort in very far from the beach, it is on a harbor. Second, the rooms were very dirty and the bathroom smelled like sour milk. Third, the buffet was horrible. The A La Carte Restaurant was decent, but only open for dinner. The best thing about this place is the nice pool and that fact that the bartenders make very strong beverages. I would never stay here again, hopefully the Atlantis will renovate this hotel and bring it up to speed with what an all inclusive resort should be.

Just returned from a 4night/5 day trip in the Bahamas. This resort is NOT a 5 star place and if you go with reasonable expectations you will not be dissappointed. I had a harborside room with a view of the bay...it was nice watching all the boats go by. My only requirements for the room is that they are clean, which these were. Floors, sheets, bathroom, everything was clean. I did not see any mold or dirt, and after reading these reviews believe me I looked.
The food was kinda bland, but there was always something to eat, (you might just have to add salt n pepper for some flavor) and the breakfast buffet was actually pretty good. There were made to order omlets and make your own waffles. The food was not gourmet, but it was good enough to keep from starving! Service at the grill was kind of slow, but hey you are in another country, you have to respect their way of life.
Drinks did not have topshelf liqour but the alcohol flowed freely and the drinks were STRONG, so you I was able to live w/o topshelf.
I have no real complaints about service, everyone was friendly and accomodating. My boyfriend had trouble connecting to the internet, he called the desk and within 5 minutes they called back and fixed the problem. One day we came back n the maid forgot to leave fresh towels. We called the desk and within 10 minutes a huge stack of towels were brought to us.
I was a bit disappointed in the man made beach at first but after walking to the beach and the waves being to rough to swim in I quickly learned to appreciate the lagoon. The pool and surrounded area was reasonably clean. Sure there was some garbage around, but come on there 100s of kids and adult running around. You can't expect the staff to be follow everyone around and pick up after them. If some of the guests were more mindful of themselves, there would be no garbage. Some reviewed complained of stray cats, but honestly I dont think the problem is bad. I saw one cat the entire trip and it was sorta just passing through.
Overall, for the price you are paying it is a great place. The people who complain I think just have too high expectatipns. They want 5 star accomadations without paying for it and lets face it isnt the way the world works.

Accommodations:

Our room was not satisfactorily clean. There were areas of mold in the shower, the floor tiles were dirty, and the windows were dirty. During one afternoon shower, the water ran completely cold. During another, the water completely stopped before I even had a chance to rinse. It took a call to the front desk, and about 10 minutes before the water returned so I could rinse the soap off. Our floor had a group of (unsupervised?) students that were loud in the hallways, and woke us up very early throughout our stay with screaming and blaring televisions and stereos (the television and stereo were played simultaneously). We brought this to the attention of the front desk several times, with no measurable results. The hotel’s website ---------- touts a mini refrigerator in the room amenities section. Ours had an exterior door that was rusted out on the bottom.

Food and beverage:

We found the food and beverage substandard. In addition to the poor taste of the meals, fountain drinks, and bottom shelf liquor, we experienced buns so stale they fell apart in your hands, and milk served at breakfast that had already expired (by five days!).

Pool:

Like our room, the pool and its surroundings were not satisfactorily clean. In the area immediately around the pool we observed used band aids and cigarette butts on the ground. A walk around the perimeter revealed trash in the bushes and in the bay water as well. Though we saw a gentleman cleaning the pool each morning, the water remained littered with leaves, feathers, and even used drinking straws. One afternoon, there was a beer chugging contest that was held in the presence of children and minors. There were always two clashing styles of music being played in the pool area: the “house” music, and the “DJ” music that competed with it, and which contained expletives (again in the company of children and minors).

The Paradise Island Harbour Resort was below acceptable travel standards. So poor that within twenty four hours we were eating off site, and searching for another place to stay. We spent and additional $393.52 on food, and $425.06 for a room for one night at another hotel – money we didn’t expect to spend since the Paradise Island Harbour Resort is an all-inclusive resort that was portrayed as top notch on its website. We did stay at the hotel for three nights at cost of $654.00 (our trip had originally been booked for four nights), only due to the fact that rooms were not immediately available at other hotels on the island.

Upon checkout after the third night, the desk clerk was not very concerned about our experience, and only offered not to charge us for the fourth night (the night we stayed elsewhere), and to credit the local phone calls on our bill (calls to other hotels in search of a room so we could leave the Paradise Island Harbour Resort as soon as possible)…he was hardly apologetic or accommodating. The clerk even recited what sounded like a stock exit greeting that suggested it was his pleasure to have served us, and voiced hopes that we would soon return – as if he had not heard a single word of ours as we described our experience, and was somehow sarcastically mocking our predicament.

Myself and my partner have just returned from a two week holiday in the bahamas. I do have to admit that although we were both looking forward to the holiday we were some what apprehensive of the note on our booking informing us that the american spring break was to coincide with our holiday. The flight from scotland is approx 11 hours, and for this reson we were determined to enjoy every minute in the Bahamas regardless of the american college students! But in retrospect I am glad we went when we did, I might even take up studying again and spend every spring break in the Bahamas!!
Every asspect of the hotel was fantastic, I had read some bad reveiws of the hotel but I have to say that I am not in agreement, the hotel was kept fantasticly, all outdoor areas, the pool, the hot tub, the beach, and the tennis courts were kept free of rubbish. The food was fantastic and there is no chance of starving, even the fussiest eaters could find something to eat! All the staff were exceptional, none of them would walk past you without saying hello, and would ensure your happiness at every turn. The tuesday night junkanoo is a must see, and Action Jackson, and his fire limbo, is certainly different! One piece of advice I would offer to anyone planning on visiting the Bahamas, is take your time, do not expect a fast service in the Bahamas, but the service you get is fantastic.
If you are under 30 and looking for a good party I would advise you to travel in march as the college students added a lively feel to a somewhat grown up hotel.
Welocome to the bahamas, take your time a relax sweetie xx
Oh and I would recommend the conch fritters at the pool bar!!
