“Spring Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

We stayed at The Sunrise Beach Villas with our two kids (ages 4 and 7) from March 31st 2013 to April 5th 2013. Our villa was 4 bedroom, 4 bath, living room, dining room, and full kitchen( A wonderful option in keeping food cost down). My wife and I have been lucky to stay in a lot of beautiful resorts through our travels, but this by far was the nicest. Sunrise Beach Villas are located on Paradise Island and offer two pools, a great bar and restaurant called “Violas”, and a beautiful beach, which was a 1minute walk from our villa door. Our two children had more than enough to do over the five days there playing in the pool, snorkeling, or just playing on the beach.

The staff was remarkable in all aspects of their duties. They were very approachable when it came to questions about the island or the resort, and went way out of their way on being helpful. They informed us that of all the resorts on Paradise Island…”Sunrise Beach Villas” were the most economical for food and drink. Not only was the food and drink economical, but it was far better than any of the other alternatives on the island. A nearby “very large resort” had us paying 3 to 4 times the amount for Conch Fritters, Beer, or Dinner Entrees. This also seemed to be a hang out for locals which is always a good sign.

Furthermore the vibe at Sunrise Beach Villas was extremely relaxed…there was no waiting 30 minutes to catch an elevator, or 1 to 2 hours to sit for dinner, or constantly being nickel and dimed to death for going on tours or waterparks. This quaint little gem offered us everything we could have wanted, and was a great vacation for our kids to have fun without having to constantly be at a waterpark or doing extracurricular activities.

Overall, if you are looking for a great place to stay that has all the amenities of home, friendly people, a tremendous feeling of security, and great food and drink…don’t look any further than Sunrise Beach Villas. We met more than a few people who come back to Sunrise Beach Villas year after year as their premier destination.

Room Tip: The four Bedroom Villas are outstanding.

We stayed at sunrise several family members in villa 203 it was fabulous decorated in island motif seashells and flowers. It was much better than a few of to reviews said. One thing I will say is the owner side is more upscale than the hotel side although I did get a chance to see the inside of one on the hotel side and it was nice too. Carla was very helpful before we arrived and after. We got in early they put our luggage away and we went to the beach. The houskeeping was superb room cleaned everyday one day we forgot to do the dishes only to return and find them washed.they staff at viloas were very friendly and the food was delicious nothing fancy but good we ate from there several times it is close to atlantis a ten minute walk or two minute cab which you could call from your room and they would be there before you could walk around to the front.Everting was wonderful we will definitely return. I also like that in the evening the pool area by the beach is lockedso you use your key to get made you feel safer the security was always around watching out for the guest no shadyness going on just as a precaution. Loved violas but were glad our rooms were not in the front because of the music.but as I said before loved it and will be back

Our extended family rented several villas for a week. We absolutely loved it. Sharron, Carla, and the rest of the staff were friendly and incredibly helpful (finding a big bbq for us to use, loaning us a super-sized soup pot from the restaurant, tracking down the snorkeling company people, etc). Sunrise is a nice size with a non-corporate feel. Both pools are pretty and well maintained, and the beach is right there. The villas are well equipped and feel private. The grounds are lovely. Other people in the wedding party were staying at the Riu (yuck) and the Atlantis (just like Las Vegas) and were paying way more for much less. I can't say enough nice things!

My wife and I couldn’t have been happier with the Sunrise Beach Villas for our honeymoon destination. The 3 bedroom suite we stayed-in was superb and recently remodeled from top to bottom. Best of all, the spacious desk has an exquisite view of the beach and ocean. The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating to all our needs. There is a fantastic restaurant/bar located on the complex named Violas. The food is delicious and well priced. Shopping, other eateries, and the Atlantis are only a short walk away. I would highly recommend choosing the Sunrise Beach Villas if you are traveling and vacationing on Paradise Island. It is definitely the best “bang for your buck.”

My boyfriend and I traveled to PI and stayed at Sunrise Beach Club in one of the one-bedroom villas from 5/19/13 to 5/26/13. Our stay was amazing. First of all, the beach is gorgeous and there are no rocks in front of the property. Sure there are vendors selling beach chairs and umbrellas (and jet skis), and they will ask you many times if you want to rent something, but if you politely say "No thanks" that's it. No pressure. The water was beautiful, and it's literally two properties down from the Atlantis. The aquarium is free after hours, and it's awesome. You can also walk the other way (toward One and Only Ocean Club) and the beach is amazing. Our villa itself was perfect for us - we loved the patio and the proximity to the beach. The staff was really friendly and helpful - especially Carla at the front desk. She was great at making sure all of our needs were met and she makes it a point to know your name!! (Also if you are looking for a good cab driver, ask Carla to call Jimmy.) There is also a computer available in the office if you don't want to get the wireless service, which helped us out! Viola's restaurant was also a great little spot to hang out and grab a bite to eat. Also the security at Sunrise was awesome - people were friendly and they often asked us if we were staying on the property. This made us feel very safe as they were making sure others were not walking through the property. Also remember to respect everyone you meet. Overall this stay was awesome and we definitely want to go back hopefully within the next two years!

Some tips if you are traveling for the first time that we learned:
- Cabs into downtown Nassau cost about $12-15. However, you can walk to the foot of the PI bridge and take the bus pretty much anywhere for $1.25 per person. Definitely a great way to save some money! And they go pretty much everywhere - the destinations are on the front of the bus before they pull up.
- If you are taking a cab, make sure to ask the cab driver how much the trip will cost BEFORE getting into the cab. If you don't do this, you are at their mercy for whatever they charge.
- If you are looking to get fresh fish, the fishermen aren't really under the bridge until about noon. We went at 8am and no one was there!
- If it's windy/rainy, close your patio umbrella!
- Bring a beach tent if you don't want to rent an umbrella/chairs! We got one at Walmart (Coleman brand) and it was awesome.
- Everything is negotiable re: vendors. This includes water sports at the right time (when they aren't as busy).
- If you want to buy alcohol, go to the liquor store closer to the Atlantis. It's less than a 10 minute walk ,and the beer is $2/can and the rum is like $12 a bottle. This is WAY cheaper than buying it through FoodStores2go or getting it at the bar. If we go back, we will definitely be purchasing all alcohol here. We did use FoodStores2go for food (and alcohol, oops), and we found that useful because they go into your villa and set up all food before you even get there! It is pricey though!
- The service in restaurants/bars is slower than the US. This isn't because the staff is disrespectful - it's because things are more laid back in the Bahamas. Just be patient!
- Restaurants we visited and recommend: The Poop Deck, Twin Brothers, and the Green Parrot
- Excursions we recommend: PowerBoat Adventures (soooo awesome) and Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounters

Overall it was an amazing vacation. Can't wait to go back!

We are home one day and are regretting that we did not stay a few more days. Selfish as it may sound 10 days was not enough. Sunrise is for everyone, you can do as much as you want or just relax and do nothing. Location is great and I hope my friends and family will take advantage of what I found. Villa was like living in a little house, and the grounds are lovely. The best however were the people. We have been to many many islands, and have never felt more comfortable anywhere. The staff are all kind as well as helpful. Miss Johnson, And Nika were the best, but my heartfelt thanks to Carla who would always go above and beyond. She is such a warm person and everything she does is with such sincerity. I hope to get back there again this year, as I know we will be ready for some R&R . Gail And Steve Spinelli

My honeymoon was a year overdue but well worth the wait. We spent a week at Sunrise Beach Club and this resort along with its location exceeded my expectations! The facility was amazing. Everything from the landscaping, the pools and the condo was beautiful. Our condo was decked out from head to toe with modern updates, a big screen tv and a fully stocked kitchen. The employees were so nice and everyone knew our names after the first day. Violas had great food and drinks with lots of tvs and great music. We had a great time on the beach with volleyball, water activities and massages at our fingertips. The Atlantis was just a short walk away for extra entertainment. I would highly recomment this resort for everyone wanting a great experience in the Bahamas.

Room Tip: Go with couples and rent the villa with 3 bedrooms. There was so much so space to hang out and have...
