“Great Place to Send Friends for The Weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2011

I should have written this reveiw a long time ago, as I lived in the Bahamas a few years ago.

The last time I stayed at the Beach Club property, I rented a space for a couple of friends that were traveling for the weekend and myself, they had an amazing time.
This is a great property, it is on an amazing location on the beach, right next to the exclusive Ocean Club Estates, and a public Beach area, the views are amazing, and you can walk for about one mile to the Atlantis. It is quiet at this end of Paradise Island, and still close enough to walk to everything if you want to see the atlantis or some of the great ocean side places to eat. The beach club has a little poolside restaurant that makes great little meals at reasonable prices, the pool area is secluded, and there are not too many villas, the size is just right. The beach club condos are spacious and have kitchens, very nice accomodations, comfortable beds.

We spent a week at PIBC from Oct 22-29, 2011. I have to say - we really liked it here. The best part of PIBC is - by far - its location on Cabbage Beach. Cabbage Beach is gorgeous and is the same beach the Atlantis is on. In fact, you can see the Atlantis if you look left. I felt like we were getting the same beach experience as Atlantis guests without the insane amount of $$$ they were probably paying. So the beach is less than a minute walk away - or at least it was from our room - RM 20. We could see the ocean from our porch - amazing view. Let me break it down:
1. Beach
- Beach is gorgeous. You walk to front of property, through gate and down some steps and bam you are there. There is usually one or two employees there who will grab you chairs and umbrella. We usually gave them a few bucks as a tip every day. The chairs are clean and nice and the umbrellas really make it super comfortable in the sun. There is no drink service on the beach but you can walk back onto the property and order a drink and bring it down with you. The water is a beautiful blue and we had some big wave days - fun for body surfing - and some calm days too. Sand is beautiful and beach was very clean. Only maybe 2 or 3 vendors walked by selling cigars or hair braiding or some flute thing the whole time we were there. And they were polite and not a nuisance. You get towels from the front desk. You could spend your whole week on the beach just relaxing and not even leave.
2. Room
We were in RM 20. We liked it. Keep in mind - this ain't the Ritz. But I felt the room was clean and big. We had 2 bedrooms - one with king bed and bathroom and other with two twins and separate bathroom. Had big dining room glass table and great little common area with wrap around couch. TV was available and even had HBO and STARZ and SHOWTIME. Kitchen was small but had a working stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. We made our own breakfast and lunches and ate out most nights. I would say room is just a little bit outdated. But it was clean and fine for us!
3. Property location
- We rented a car. You don't need to rent a car. You can walk down to the Atlantis in about 15 mins or to the bridge or to the ferry in about 15 mins too. You can either stay at the property all week and veg or venture out with a cab to do grocery shopping or check out a restaurant. I would suggest not renting a car (we spent $290 US dollars for the week) but instead take a cab to and from airport and a cab to grocery store and load up. Then you can walk or cab down to Atlantis area where there are restaurants and shopping galore. We usually drive around islands and we didn't have any desire this year since all we needed was at our beach.
4. Money
We've traveled a lot. And the Bahamas was the most expensive place we have ever been to. $7 for half gallon of milk. $10 for gallon of ice cream. I mean the prices were even worse than Hawaii. I would absolutely load up on groceries there because still cheaper than eating out. But stuff one of your bags with food from your country - like pasta, sauce, cereal, granola bars. For example, I brought Nature Valley bars ($2.50 in US) They were $7 at grocery store there. Don't know how much wine was there but we bought a case of Kalik beer there - it was $45. A lot.
5. Excursions
- We did the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter - not the swim. Worth the $90 we each paid. We did bring our iphone camera down to the dock and covered it since it does get wet. But taking pics of ourselves with the dolphin saved us tons since they charge $18 or so minimum for a pic.
6. Overall
I definitely think PIBC is worth it as long as you don't expect brand spanking new facilities. If you are laid back and want to relax on a beautiful beach, this is the spot. I thought the people that worked there were nice enough and the other people staying were nice too. A mix of Americans and Europeans. Facility was clean. There was just an odor when you walked in the center of the resort near the mini mart but once you walked past you were fine. We also did the Wed night Bahamian night with the fire guy Action Jackson. It was $40 each and we enjoyed ourselves. It is a little hokey but really fun at the same time. Enjoy the Bahamas and PIBC!!!

our jewelryand perfume was stolen..put in complaint but they told us we would have to go to police dept. and file our own report...they did nothing...then after that complaint......it rained the whole time we were there so the front door to room was swolen and housekeeping again didn't shut door properly and anyone could just grabhandle and open. so we call the general manager and again nothing was done except a "i am sorry and i will buy you both a drink"...
then......the last 3 days we had no microwave it broke and then last day we had no water ......
when we checked out the still charged us the surchange and taxes.....wow....what a joke

This was our second trip to PIBC. During our first visit last year we purchased a time share week at the resort, so I was happy to see that I still loved the place when we went back. Each September the resort shuts down for 2 weeks for maintenance and they have made some great changes since our visit in August of last year. I like to see that the resort is keeping up the buildings, pools, etc. and making it even more enjoyable. The pool areas have had improvements made to them and they are beginning more updates in the units.

The units are clean and well appointed with hair dryers in each bath, and the kitchen is fully functional for cooking meals, and stocked with paper towels and detergents. We really enjoy the use of the grills on site and enjoy the quiet nights we stay in grilling and making drinks in the blender! Charcoal and fluid is sold in the on-site mini-mart. The mini-mart is very well stocked with sundries, staples, condiments, meats, veggies/fruits, beer/wine/soda and spirits. Prices were the same as in the grocery stores in Nassau, even a bit lower for some items than at those bigger stores. I found the wine and beer prices in the mini-mart to be a bit lower than the liquor stores taxi drivers have taken us to in Nassau. Spirits were the same price.

The staff is very friendly. The bar/grill on site has a new, expanded menu and the food is very good and reasonably priced. Housekeeping tidies up the room each day except Sunday. There is a coin operated laundry on site (takes US quarters).

I really enjoy the beach service, when you hit the beach they bring you chaise lounges and umbrella to where you want to sit. This is such a peacful section of beach - I think the best feature of PIBC. If you are looking for a loud, activity filled resort with all the bells and whistles this is not for you. Although, every activity group around will pick up from the lobby for diving, boating and other tours. The front desk can help arrange that for you. If you want a nice condo unit with beautiful views, nice grounds/pools and a beautiful stretch of beach this is the place for you.

If you don't mind walking, you can walk to Atlantis, restaurants or other areas of Paradise Island in about 15-20 minutes.

Room Tip: There are only 12 direct ocean front units so you need to book early to get one of those, especially...

It is truly paradise when you are located on the beach in a great two bedroom villa with two pools and a wonderful staff. We have been coming here for the past twenty years and it has only gotten better. There is not a staff member who passes you who does not say hello or what can I do for you. The front desk staff is always attentive to your needs and ready to help where help is needed. They are always pleasant and efficient. Tony, the club manager, has done a great job with the property and staff. This past summer we were at the Club during the hurricane. We were informed of the situation well in advance of the arrival of the storm and given all the possible alternatives that were available, including staying at the Club. Within hours of the storm's departure, the staff had cleaned the grounds and put the Club back in tip top condition. Many of the guests were stranded because of airline cancellations. We were told we could stay, free of charge, until the airlines resumed service and we could book a fight. How many other places would have done that for their guests? We can't wait to return in 2012. I already have my date confirmed.

Room Tip: Whether you are on the beach front or away from the beach, it makes no difference.

Paradise Island Beach Club is a true gem! This was our 3rd time visiting PIBC and we were even more impressed. From the checkin where the reception staff welcome you "home" .... to the housekeeping crew who try to meet your every need (thanks to Charmaine) ... to the maintenance staff who took care of a VERY minor issue (thanks to ET) ... to the staff at the Reef Bar and Grill ----- you feel pampered. The grounds of PIBC are just beautiful and we had a good time just looking at all the flowers and foliage. Then ... of course ... the beach is the best on the whole island!!! PIBC is located away from the crowds of the Atlantis Resort and the sand and water are just spectacular. The "beach guys" are quick to set you up with a beach chair and an umbrella. You don't have to fight for beach space and the water is a crystal clear blue/aqua. If you want to visit Atlantis, it is an easy walk along the beach or road ... or you can easily get a taxi.

The reception staff at PIBC will be more than willing to arrange other activities for you -- such as parasailing .... use of jet ski .... ride a banana boat .... fishing excursion .... etc. Just ask them!! Be sure to walk a few blocks to The Cloisters for some beautiful views of the gardens.

Lots of upgrades since last year at PIBC. New living room furniture. Flat screen televisions in all rooms. New gazebos on the grounds overlooking the beach and ocean. The pool bar area was renovated.

I am already planning our next trip to PIBC for next year!!! Thanks to all the staff at PIBC for their hospitality.
