My family of four (5 and 7 year old kids plus parents) spent 6 nights at the Comfort Suites. We were there March 13th through the 19th. The rooms were big, clean, and well maintained. The full access to Atlantis is huge! We got up every morning and ate breakfast. This is a HUGE deal. The #1 complaint we have about this trip is the price of the food. The free breakfast was a huge money saver. Bonus: fill your water bottles up in the free breakfast area and take them with you to Atlantis.
Our fridge worked great. We requested a microwave and they brought it in a few minutes. I had packed a bunch of snacks but we also went to paradise village and bought more. Again - pricey. A box of Nilla wafers are $9.95! But still worth it. We brought along ziplocks, so I was able to take cheezits, Nillas, fig newtons, granola bars, pop tarts, etc. with us to Atlantis. This was a saver for my kids. I also packed crystal light flavor packs to flavor the water. Atlantis only has soda basically - no punch or lemonade for the refillable cups. My kids don't drink soda. I found out after we hit the paradise valley grocery store - that you can actually get soda, gallon of water, etc. at the nearby drug store and souvenir shops for cheaper (gallon water $2 or can of soda $1 - you will pay $4-$9 other places). We bought a gallon of water and kept in our room for the evenings and mornings.
At atlantis - some good deals on food cannot be found at the sit down restaurants we found. Shark Bites Express (not the sit down) has some good lunch/dinner combo - $10 for 8-10 piece chix nuggets, big fries, cookie and refillable drink. This was plenty and my kids shared it easily with some leftover. The ala cart place next to the kiddie pool also had some pressed pizza, quesidilla, sandwiches for $6-$7 which was a good deal. You could get a chix wrap combo for $10 at the poolside place too. All seem like good values there. The Marina Village Pizza was only OK, but the kids liked the pasta. The pizza was fair, but huge pieces for $6.50/slice.
You can keep the refillable cups you get from lunch and use them the next day. The alcoholic drinks are going to run about $10/piece. They are large, but can add up quickly.
Dinner was more of a struggle. We ventured to the fish fry and it was a total waste. $43 for the cab - $80 for the food and that was only for 2 meals because me/hubby shared as did my kids. Total waste of money - horrible service, very slow service, and the food wasn't that great.
Ben and Jerry's was great and we hit it daily. US prices. Quizos was actually one of our favorite meals in the evening. Virgils BBQ was great -but OMG - they serve family style and it was a lot of food and pricey. It was good, though. We were able to order in 1/2 sizes which helped, but still couldn't eat half of it. The Marina Village has a good restaurant - Bimini Road or something - was very good. Good service. We didn't hit the others.
Atlantis was a great combo for us traveling as a family. It felt very safe. The kids loved the pools, the slides, the kiddie area, the current river, jungle slide and serpent slide. Then we could go to the beach and hang there for a while.
Get there by 9:30 and get seats for the day. You get complimentary towels throughout the day which is great. You have to go to Royal Towers every day to get your bracelet to get into Atlantis. You basically have to walk through the casino and its smokey - YUK. The aquariams were awesome. Everything was really clean and the staff was nice. You have signing privilages at ATlantis with your pink Comfort Suite cards.
I would definitely stay at the Comfort Suites again. It was a great deal and very nice. We literally walked down the stairs and crossed the street to Atlantis everyday. We stayed at Atlantis every day - all day - until after 5:30 or 6:00. It was a great combo for us as a family - there was plenty for the kids to do and go combo with the beach/pools/etc. If it was just my husband and I traveling sans kids - we would probably find stay another place - all inclusive, etc. However, I would definitely go back here but only with my kids in tow. Really good family spot.
The temperatures were cooler some nights - wished I had packed more cover ups/sweaters and pants/capris. Luckily, we had our kids fleece jackets since we left winter weather at home.
