We stayed at the Comfort Suites for 5 days. It was perfect in many ways. We got checked in quickly around 2:30. The room was a nice size; 2 double beds, and a little sitting area with a pull out sofa bed. The CS is much cheapest then the Atlantis hotels and in addition you get free admission to Atlantis, free Wifi, free refrig, free Microwave on request, and a free buffet breakfast which was basic but good. We got to breakfast everyday before 8am, so we did not have to deal with any lines. Comfort Suites is not a five star hotel, but we were very happy with the staff, the cleanliness, and to be centrally located. The Atlantis is right across the street (Coral Towers), and on the other side was a little shopping area and Bahamas Crafts (a mini straw market, good prices) with the Marina Village right across from there. The Marina Village is a fun place to hang at night. They have little shops, free entertainment, parades (Junkanoo on Wed & Sat. @ 9pm), interesting yachts, and restaurants. We were in room 370 which we liked because it was quiet and we were right down the hall from the laundry room. It was a lot of walking just to get out of the hotel, but so worth it to have a peaceful place to sleep. I would stay away from heavy traffic areas because you will hear doors slamming all day and night. There was an odd odor we would smell when returning to the room, I think it may be from a cleaning product or something like that…we just opened the door and window for a bit everyday to air it out. I expected a problem with the water pressure from all the reviews I was reading, so it did not seem bad to me at all. My daughter and I got up early every day to run three miles around the island. This was a nice way to start the day off and there were a lot of other people out in the morning doing the same thing.
We left the hotel every day at 8:45am to go to Atlantis, you walk through the Coral Towers, then through the casino and down the stairs to get your wrist bands...must do this everyday and also fill out a waiver form. It was fast at this time.
Dining on the island for us was a big disappointment. One of the greatest pleasures of vacationing is going out to eat dinner. Realizing that food is ridiculously expensive we decided to stay with the low to mid priced places. We were disappointed in Anthony’s and Green Parrot. We tried to get reservation at Carmines but nothing was available for the next three days unless we wanted to eat at 9pm. We ate at Murray’s Deli twice and everyone was pretty happy. On Thursday, the Comfort Suites has an all you can eat BBQ. This was good, not great. It was $32 a head, a little too experience for the type of food that was served. I think they should charge more like $25 for one plate full, but I would do this again over Anthony’s or Green Parrot.
We used Cheryl Ferguson's taxi (an excellent choice) to transport 8 of us to and from the Comfort Suites.
We went on one excursion; Sandy Toes. Had a wonderful time. I have separate reviews on this and more, you should be able to easily find them by clicking on the green star to the left of this report. Good luck on your trip, I hope my review helped a little.
