I was spending time on Paradise Island elsewhere but knew that I wanted to spend some time here at Sivananda for a taste of true paradise, calm and beauty in the midst of our pavement pounding and touring of Paradise Island and Nassau. My friend was ill and in bed all day so it was the perfect time for me to do what I envisioned. It was easy to get to, taking the free shuttle from Atlantis to the Reef Atlantis property. Once there I explained to the front door men that I was there to walk the beach to SAYR and they directed me to the beach. It was breathtaking what I saw when I got there. Calm, quiet, tranquil and beautiful compared to what I saw at Cabbage Beach which was full of visitors and local sellers. I was there in time to explore the grounds at Sivananda, take photographs, pay $10.00 for the 4:00 pm 2 hour yoga class. I was provided with a yoga mat free of charge and invited by the same lovely, kind woman after to join all for dinner, which I did. I will be sure to offer donation next time I am fortunate enough to visit another Sivananda location. Karma will take care of her good deed with me. : ) The 2 hour yoga was wonderful, peaceful and doable for me, a rookie who has only ever taken part in 2 1 hour individual classes before! The feeling is what I was after. The dock, the ocean the calm voice, the stretch, the lesson and the experience were all more than I had hoped for. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, people appeared rested and kind with gentle smiles and warmth. So glad I was there, even moreso on my own. Thank you, all at Sivananda for sharing this with me for a few hours on a hot, sunny and most memorable afternoon.
