Facts : located on a very very beutiful beach, peaceful setting ,quiet, It is an ashram not a spa so lots of prayers and chanting.
Yoga class : at least 1min of shavasana or more in between asanas, thus the class takes 2 hrs, all classes are identical .
you are not checking in in a hotel or spa so the concept of customer service is non existent ,it is run by volunteers :you wash your own dishes and if the bathtub has a problem you will be told you need to wait for the plumber yourself .
Food :2 meals a day at 10 and at 6 ,very poor quality , really inexpensive produce all conventionally grown , none organic : genetically engineered soy galore, nutritionally very poor : white rice, soy milk in formaldehyde laced carton containers, white bread , refined flour pancakes, skippy peanut butter, quacker oats oatmeal ; high fructose syrups and jams, no idea of nutrition or quality in what is served .
water .available with poor filtration:most likely it will unsettle you stomach until you get used to
Cleanliness :poor : a roach run on the sink counter in my room when I returned after dark and turned on the lights , there was a hair in one of my meals ,my shower was clogged for 2 days ; no change of bed linens or towels in the 5 nights that I stayed there; you wash your own dishes on one prefilled sink and rinse it on another one , not allowed to run water,on the sink, dishes go in some hot water machine after. Meals are served right after yoga class , we come straight from class , sweaty and without washing our hands we sit down for dinner, buffet style so we all touch the serving utensils probably with sweaty hands .They promote cleanliness but there is severe lack of .Grounds are very unkept , no maintenance, overgrown vegetation everywhere , chickens walking around pooping, the walking paths needs to be repaved ,the fountains to be cleaned , the yoga deck needs maintenance beehives growing on it , the meditation room is extremely old an unkept , ripped old cushions, wide plank wood floor very uneven , and you sit on the floor. Not all Staff looks clean, and presentable because they are tired and hot ( karma yoga).
Yoga vacation advertising on the website is deceiving ; it gives a feeling of a conventional vacation; they should define their idea of a vacation stating : you wash your own dishes , we dont clean the rooms daily or change beds or towels , there is no security after hours or anybody around at the front desk in case of an emergency ,and the massage treatment and boutique mentioned on the website are never available or open.
To all of the above : so what, it is what it is and I respect that, I did manage to relax, took all yoga classes ,some morning satsang, run on the beach and traveling alone was not an issue; :as a group, they have spiritual beliefs and a way of being and doing things ;I do respect it and I would like to know more about them ; what I dont respect is deceit; the website should accurately describe what this place is about; it does not by a long shot
