“Amazing Grounds/Spotty Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

My husband and I recently stayed at the one&only ocean club after hearing and reading AMAZING reviews of the hotel. The most consistent thing we heard was how incredible the service is there. Our expectations were quite high of course. Let me start by saying the hotel setting is incredible. A nice contrast form The Atlantis (sister hotel). Extremely relaxing and gorgeous ocean views. The gardens and pool were also quite magnificent. Unfortunately, the amazing service was not apparent to us! First of all, there is not really a front desk staff/concierge readily available. Upon asking the on-duty concierge to make dinner reservations at some atlantis restaurants she was unsure which ones were open that evening. This should be something the staff knows immediately. After calling the atlantis concierge to find out, she proceeded to tell me the restaurant I wanted was closed. Never did she ask me if I wanted a different night or if she could make other reservations for me. Some of the staff was friendly while others were quite aloof! The beach staff was GREAT! My husband and I mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary and his birthday and the hotel did NOTHING to acknowledge either occasion until I mentioned something our last night. Mind you, we ate dinner there 3out of 5 nights. WE have stayed at Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton's all over the Caribbean and have always experienced amazing service. We were definitely surprised at the lack of consistency at OC. Also, a pipe broke and we had no water in our room and management again did nothing until we inquired. There should have been some notice updating us about the situation. I would also mention some rooms are MUCH nicer than others. We stayed in the "older" section with small rooms which could use a makeover. If possible I would request the newer section which we were unaware of. The restaurants were incredible albeit extremely PRICEY!

Room Tip: request newer rooms!

If its good enough for James Bond, it certainly is good enough for anyone. One & Only lives up to its name. The beachfront hotel is just spectacular - but I will warn guest right up front that if they are looking for some wilderness, natural setting, this is not the place. The landscaping is beautiful and tropical and does make up for the fact that it is located in the middle of an overbuilt and over developed island (not-so-Paradise Island). To the west you have the towering Atlantis and Ugly Riu, and to the East, oversized ugly mansions that belong in Beverly Hills, not the Bahamas! It is also a 40 min drive from the airport... All that said, if you can live with that, then this is perfection. Waterfront suites, beautiful gardens, silky white sand beaches and nearby golf make up for a lot. The Dunes restaurant is nice too - good, but not spectacular. They could definitely do better with their cocktails, the One and Only was a big overly sweet disappointment that tasted of canned juice. Price wise, be ready to plonk down the big bills - everything in Nassau is almost triple the price of its counterpart in US cities like Miami.

Room Tip: Splurge for the waterfront villas! But remember that Paradise Island (and Nassau) is overbuilt and l...

My wife and I traveled with my parents and had a great stay. The family really enjoyed the time (although it was far too short). Everyone treated us as VIPs and you could tell they did so as a desire to provide excellent customer service. We appreciated the gifts and special attention.

From the moment we made our reservation to the moment we left, Vernetta took care of everything and did a fabulous job for us. Tayana was terrific taking care of our arrivals and giving us a tour of the facilities. Everyone we encountered was a delight.

Also Philip the shuttle driver was extraordinary. He regaled us with stories and jokes as we were transferred between Atlantis and the One&Only.

Everyone truly enjoyed their spa treatments. The restaurants and bar personnel were wonderful as well. Thank you and the staff for a marvelous stay,

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are great. Crescent Wing is slightly bigger.

We spent four days at this resort in mid April and it was fantastic! Yes, it is expensive (if you are used to staying at top resorts, none of it will surprise you as it was exactly what we expected), but the service was great and the resort is beautiful. The rooms are very nice and we had a great suite overlooking the ocean. Food was delicious (make sure to eat at Dunes - we ate there a half dozen times for various meals as they were all really good and you can't beat eating outside overlooking the ocean), the beach was gorgeous, the staff were very friendly, and the spa is great (have a deep tissue massage - you won't regret it!). They have all sorts of the "extras" we like in hotels, such as complimentary chocolate strawberries and sparkling wine delivered to our room every evening and a concierge that is willing to help in whatever way possible. Our bags were lost on the flight in and the hotel staff checked on it regularly for us and made sure it was delivered to our room as soon as possible. The use of all of the Atlantis amenities was nice as we had fun on the water slides over there. Overall, it was a great experience and I can't wait to go back!

I've been going to the Ocean Club since I was born and my family would travel there even before that. Words can't explain how much I love it there and how perfect a holiday I have each and every time. We will continue to come back to the Ocean Club for as long as we are able to and one day hope to even get married there. It's 5 star, luxurious, truly relaxing and you're wait

We stayed in a luxury ocean front room, and have no complaints about the room itself. The problem is the service. Although there is a butler service for all your needs, you don't expect to have to call them about standard items every day! Also, in the package is a glass of champagne and strawberries delivered to the room early evening before dinner. Only once has this actually happened, and only then because we asked why it hadn't arrived.
There were no bath robes in the room, so after a long journey it was quite inconvenient having had a soak in the bath and find no robes!! Took them an hour to bring some! Like wise with the towels, each day the maid would come, take the used ones but didn't replace all of them. There was always something missing, ie bath mat, face cloth, bath sheet!!!
The balcony was plagued with nesting pigeons, which left piles of poo all over the deck!
To cap it all, every day we were careful to 'book' a ride to our chisen dinner restaurant. But in each case, nobody knew anything about our booking.
We wont be coming back!

we spent one week in this "luxury hotel|" at the beginning of april. The experience was rather disapponting in all aspects. Apart form the pristine beach and the crystal clear sea not a lot to save. Rooms are very old and it's quite clear they did not invest any money for long time . air conditiong system wa so loud that sleeping was difficult. They changed our butler 3 times in one week so everyday there was someone with ZERO knowledge of our needs and interest. Food was average at best and only one restaurant was open for the first part of the week. Kids club crew was really lazy and with zero interest in organizing anything diffrent from swimming in the family pool.Temperature in the club was freezing cold with no respect for the young guest. Service despite being friendly was very slow and inattentive. I will not go back for sure....
