“Nice facility”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

We were in an elevated hut (#108). The hut was very nice. The shower and bathroom were well put together. The location was good (near the hot tub and not too far from the pool and dining room). The service in the restaurant and around the pool was very good. The food was quite good. We had fresh snapper one time, fish and chips, cheese burger, calamari and a few different rum drinks. All were very good and what you would expect at a nice resort. It might have been a little better if the beach were top notch. However, for a short walk behind the last hut we were on a very nice beach-Love Beach. Alas, our weather was not great so we did not get to take advantage of the beach after the first day. The staff were helpful and the facility is very nice. It is NOT the gigantic hotel (Atlantis for example) experience. It IS a very friendly small hotel with a lot of charm.

Room Tip: Request a room not on the road as there is some road noise.

We spent four nights here in early February 2013. We had high expectations as this was the number one hotel in Trip Advisor in all the Bahamas. While very cute, this is not up to the standards I would expect of such a rating. In fact we spent two nights at Tiamo on Andros which was far superior in nearly every way (food, service, accommodations).
On the positive side, we did not hear any real road noise from our ocean-side villa which we had feared. We did hear MANY airplanes as the airport is very close and the flightpath is nearly right over the resort. This did not really bother us. Sitting by the pool was wonderful with comfortable chairs and a spectacular view.
On the negative side, the beautiful colorful paint was peeling on our villa and the light fixtures in the bathrooms and porch had as much rust as chrome. The only shampoo we had over the 4 days was a bottle that looked as if it was left by the previous guest. It did not match the nice Aveda soap or conditioner and had been partially used. The final disappointment was the food. It was what I would call OK bar food. Certainly not what I expected given the press about the chef. We asked for the fish of the day and were told there was not any for 3 of the 4 days we were there. We asked about the "soup of the day" and got the same response every day. Our one meal at a fish shack on Potters Cay downtown was the best meal of the 4 days.
Overall, a nice place, but not exceptional.

Room Tip: I recommend an oceanside villa to avoid road noise.

I picked Compass Point Beach Resort for a quick weekend getaway for my wife and I after a business shindig in Palm Beach Gardens and some sailing in Key West earlier in the week. Don't get me wrong, we thought the place was nice enough...just not a place I would get excited about returning to...and that goes for the whole Nassau scene as well..

The resort itself was "cute" with the brightly colored bungalows and open air restaurant. The staff were very friendly and professional...Les the bartender deserves a special shout out...nice guy!

We had an elevated sea view hut that was both clean and comfortable...despite the clear need for some external paint maintenance on many, if not all, of the bungalow units. The bed was big and comfortable, there was a tv in the room (we didn't use), the bathroom was a bit squeezed, but clean enough and the open air windows with screens made for a lot of fresh air which we like. We had a nice ceiling fan and aircon was available though there was no need.

Compass Point has been around for a while and is clearly showing its age in some respects..be it the need for some external painting or the big chunk missing from the tiled/paved pool deck. Still, the facilities at Compass Point were all in good working order, the place was very clean, the pool area was extremely enticing and staff were attentive, friendly, professional and helpful....In fact we found just about everybody on the Island to be happy and friendly....which contributed to a nice weekend.

Aside from a nice lunch we had down at the Fish Fry in Nassau, we ate all our meals at Compass Point and were quite content, though never overwhelmed, with the food. The breakfast was excellent and filling to the point where lunch was never in need..though they could certainly do with an upgrade on their coffee......if Starbucks hadn't been so far off, we'd probably have gone there for breakfast instead..the coffee at Compass Point was that bad. My wife and I did pancakes and/or eggs every morning and they were abundant and excellent each and every day.

We felt the restaurant was good, but not great. The Pizza was tasty if not a bit greasy, the fish, when available, was tasty if a bit expensive and the pork kebabs were excellent...Still, this would be an average place at best in New York City, Key West or Fort Lauderdale. Not really worth a trip to the islands for.

Compass Point Resort is a unique, fun place with a nice location right on the water. It has some history, but is showing its age as well. If you're really set on spending some time on New Providence and prefer to avoid the big box resorts like Atlantis, then Compass Point is a good, reasonably priced option with a friendly staff, nice pool and an excellent bar to sip down some rum and cokes.......but for my money I'd rather pass the time down in Key West...more bang for your buck and better food choices.

Room Tip: Being careful of getting a room too close to the road if highway noise distracts you....which pretty...

We recently returned from 4 days at Compass Point and our only regret is we didn't stay longer. The resort is small, but because all of the rooms are in separate huts you still have lots of privacy. We had a sea front hut near the far end of the property with amazing views.

Service was outstanding and friendly across the board. Food and drinks were always tasty. My only critique is that the menu was somewhat limited lacking in local flavor.

The resort is conveniently located 5 minutes from the airport so once you land you can be sipping drinks in the sun in no time. If you want to go off resort, you need a taxi or a bus as there's nothing in walking distance.

We will definitely go back!

The resort was full the whole week (No kids) this was a plus for us. The whole experience seemed like a family reunion. The staff Les, Jamis, Steve,Victor and many others were they for every need. Love beach was great for snorkeling. Food and service were excellent. The weather was very cooperative highs in the 80's lows in the 70's not bad for the end on January. We made it a point to get to know the staff and they did the same for us. Every day was like being surrounded by friends and family. The other guests were also so friendly. You have to really want to not have fun to have a bad experience there. No matter what you want to eat the "Chef" will accomidate we ate dinner there every night but 1. Breakfast the must is the eggs benidict. The nachos with shrimp as an appitizer is more like a meal. Be ready to eat when you order a meal the portions are huge. Victor runs the kitchen with "chef" man its a well oiled machine. The greeting or front desk staff are so friendly and informational run by Jamie; if it is not in the resort they know where to find it. They set up reservations for off site activities and directed us to the "must do" things. Les who runs the bar area is awsome. It is nice to see someone who takes pride in their job. He and his staff never once refered to a drink guide to make a drink and we ordered some wild stuff. Tip well and you will be treated to Jokes; puzzels, and local gossip while at the bar. Evenings at the bar were not just relaxing but entertaining also. The bungalos are primitive and small but for a couple it is just right we had a light bulb go out in the evening and called the desk with in 2 minutes Steve had it replaced with a smile and asked if there was anything else. The breakfast crew soory I have forgotten their names but again take pride in their jobs and were extremely accomidating. Phillip who runs the spa is an expat I think. If oyu are lucky enough to meet him he has some interesting stories to tell and the spa service on the dock is nothing short of full relaxation if you have troble relaxing. Some of the locals come to the bar/resteraunt also. They are also happy and colorful. We will be going back for sure.

Room Tip: 112 was great it was on the end of the property closest to Love Beach. The walls are very thin you c...

Recently returned from my brother's wedding that was held at Compass Point. It could not have been a more beautiful setting for a small wedding. The only shortfall was the nearby airport which did create a few pauses in the ceremony (maybe 5 seconds each.) the food, atmosphere, and customer service were all wonderful!
