And looking forward to the third. My wife and I just returned home from our second trip to this wonderful and relaxing resort. Let me put it this way, if you're looking for the Ritz-Carlton or the Four Seasons go spend the 800.00 a night for those places. Compass Point offers the best value of just about any place we've stayed. Skip and Linda are terrific hosts, the staff is attentive but not intrusive, and the food is great. CIA trained (that's Culinary Institute) Chef Prince Bethel prepares an array of local dishes that are outstanding. The rooms are big, clean, and comfortable. You don't have to worry about a view of the air conditioning units or parking lot here, every hut (I hesitate to call them huts) faces the sea.
My wife and I are not novice travelers and we don't try to bring the U.S. with us, but if you need CNN, Fox News, ESPN, or American Idol (ugh) you've got it on a big flat screen TV in your room.
We highly recommend this place for people looking to relax in a small, quiet, friendly atmosphere. Read a book or five.
It's telling that foreigners living in the Bahamas go to Compass Point for a drink or a meal. If you're interested in Orlando meets Vegas madness try Paradise Island.
Next year it's two weeks for us.

I stayed feb 27 thru mar.3 2008. It was a most fun and relaxing time. just what i was looking for. the room was very well kept and the grounds were clean. Even though it was a bit windy, I still enjoyed the outside bar. But it was the staff that really made the experience.
They were the BEST on the island. The food was great, I especially liked the red snapper dinner and compass point breakfasts
I would highly recommend the stay to anyone that wants a more personal island experience.

We have traveled throughout the West Indies over the past decade pretty extensively-(one must always consider the source of opinion) from Round Hill exclusivity to St .Kitts' outposts and many other shapes and forms of accomodations- always up to a certain standard- more recently as in, no elevators, crowds, pretense, etc..... those of you who should will read on...
Anyway, in attempt to be more concise, this is a quick jaunt from any East Coast city- beautiful, classy, bright yet subdued energy, excellent and sincere staff, immaculately clean, food absolutely above average ( who is comparing to NY cuisine? Hello- stay home if that's your gripe!), personable, yet respectful of guests' privacy- occassional entertainment- always appropriate and tasteful without being over the top.
Ex-pats of the islands (who can go anywhere) come here to eat, hang out for a nice time on the water with seemingly good company (and very interesting backgrounds if you care to socialize) and food/drink under the stars ( you may also recognize- or not- a few) -laid-back luxury!
Accomodations were romantic, semi-rustic (unless you need marble and private concierges) and delightfully comforting. Beds and linens were comfy- (importante!) Bathrooms open air if you wish - As stated, all views on or of the sea- Adjacent Love Beach was white-sanded solitude- We stayed in an elevated Sea-front hut- well worth the privacy- although every other accomodation was almost as exquisitely private... If
you have any appreciation of aviation, you will occasionally be lured to gaze at the miracle of the fascinating descents or ascents of these forms of travel b/c of the proximity to the airport... get over it- This is the place to go for those in the know...

Peace and Love to Our Wonderful Hosts/Hostesses, (you know who you are!)

My husband and I left are 3 teenagers home with their grandparents and went on a 3night stay to Compass Point. We were looking for a quiet but comfortable retreat and that is what we got. The place is really geared more for adults which we were happy with. We never saw more than 4 or 5 other couples at the pool, a nice change from last year when at the big resorts we would have to save our pool chaise at 7 am. Though the restaraunt draws a lot of people from the outside we never waited for a table, we ate all our meals there as we were there such a short time. All the meals were great and the staff was awesome especially Berlin, Daneesha and Keisha. Our hut was great and they even offered room service to it. It was nice to have the fridge and microwave, we had our taxi driver stop off at a market on the way and we were able to get some things to have in the hut. And yes the hotel is near the airport and there is constant jets flying over but really you don't notice it. Long story short a wonderful get away perfect if you are looking to walk a long beach or read a good book and be treated like a queen and king!

We spent a nice weekend here in late November 2007. We just relaxed by the pool and took walks on the beach. We didn't leave the resort, although probably should have for some meals.
Unfortunately the food was pretty awful. The only thing we ate that was decent was an omelet. The other foods we ate had straight out of a can taste. The nachos we ordered as a snack were terrible, the cheese was that neon orange straight out of a store package. I was very surprised because many of the reviews I read about this place mentioned it being one of the better restaurants on the island. The cocktails were pretty poor as well.
Overall a nice weekend getaway but should have done something different for meals.
