“Absolutely brilliant! Thank you Mary and Jean from Scotland!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We booked a late deal through BA and I was quite nervous as to what to expect given the mixed reviews. However, we had an amazing holiday, the hotel staff are lovely in the main(some reception staff are a bit jobsworth) but we were lucky enough to speak with a wonderful receptionist, sorry we didn't get her name she was tall and lovely, she provided us with a fridge and a kettle free of charge for our baby's fresh milk and bottle warming. A complete lifesaver!
The room was lovely and clean, we had plenty of towels and thanks to the wonderful housekeeping we were given extra water daily for our baby (after arguing with another receptionist who just kept saying the standard is 2 bottles per room).
We went on 9 Sept14 and it wasn't busy which was great. Despite previous reviews saying there was nowhere to eat nearby, god knows where they were looking! We turned right when came out of hotel and there is a lovely Thai restaurant, then a leisurely 15min stroll, this is the Bahamas folks!, you come across everything from Greek to Italian, loads of little eateries and a fabulous deli for dome fantastic lunch. You can also get the bus for $1.25. Then there is the large food store, supermarket really, where we stocked up on day to day things. I forgot my contact lens cleaner and they even had some of that! No need to go AI unless you are big drinkers as half pint if beer is $8! at hotel. Then it might be worthwhile. Go to fish fry o'Andros is a must, so reasonably priced and if you go early enough you can catch a bus back about 7pm for $1.25! Or a taxi for $15 if later.
Bahamians are so friendly and family orientated.
Pop over the road and buy your souvenirs from Cecelia a lovely lady who won't rip you off.
Biggest thanks to the Sottish ladies Mary & Jean from Oban who really saved our last day by letting us use their shower. And thanks to their brother Robert for the towels from his room. Checkout was at 11am but our flight was not until 10.30 pm and the hotel was going to charge $20 AN HOUR for late checkout, meaning we would have to pay $180 (an extra night was $200!!!) these wonderful, kind and generous people, without hesitation, offered us a solution meaning we could still enjoy our last day by the beach and be cleaned up fresh for our flight. We can't thank you enough and baby Milo thanks you too!
We were not charged any resort fee, in fact it was never mentioned to us.
We will be back!

Room Tip: We were on 5th floor near the lifts but honestly it really isn't that far if you got a room furt...

on arrival, I was impressed by the building. then I dealt with your staff who were helpful, pleasant and efficient. wherever I went in the hotel it was very clean and ohhhhhhhhhhhh what a nice smell near the lobby area. I even checked to see if I could buy that fantastic smell, the blue velvet, but unfortunately I was not able to find out where it was sold. the food was super excellent, wide choice and variety. the PEOPLE were fantastic and very warm

You spell it MELIA !! I just returned from a week stay at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort in Nassau Bahamas. What a fantastic resort. Their service was wonderful from arriving at the front door where you were greeted and welcomed into the motel. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and larger than expected, much better than what I had been expecting based on the reasonable rates. The food service was great and the meals tasty. And it didn't stop there. Outside was the major attraction.... the beach and the clear aqua waters of the Caribbean. The beach area at the Melia is the best beach in the Bahamas unless you take a boat ride to one of the private islands. It was spacious and clean with lots of areas to enjoy. The Melia had free water sports such as paddle boards, snorkel gear, water bikes, etc available right behind the motel. They have umbrellas and chairs both beach side and pool side. And let me brag on the pools.... yes pools as in plural.... they were clean and refreshing with waterfalls and palm trees. They also had a pool/beach full service bar. And to top it off, free WIFI on the beach and well as in the Lobby and other strategic areas. And everywhere the employees were cheerful and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it to everyone.

Construction was very distracting, no Wifi, must sign for everything you order - even water. No nightlife, no snacks after 11pm, poor selection for meals. Premium room is no different than a standard room. Great beach, water sports were fun.

I was in Nassau on a cruise and purchased a day pass at the Melia. The price was right at $30. The beachfront was very nice and we were easily able to get lounge chairs near an umbrella. The pools had seen a better day. Years ago they were probably very nice but these days there are missing tiles and what looks like mold on its side. There is also deterioration in the concrete surrounding the pool area. The whirlpool needed skimmed badly and also showed signs of deterioration. Some of the chairs surrounding the pools were in bad shape also.

The outdoor grill was good but very expensive - $19 for a hamburger, $14 for a hotdog, etc.

If you plan to spend the day on the beach, I wholeheartedly recommend this location. If you're looking for a good pool area, you would be better served doing a day pass somewhere else until repairs are made.
