My husband and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary at the melia resort. We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely our experience was despite the renovations. The wait staff were so caring and friendly. They went out of there way to serve. Their smiling faces and caring attitude made you forget about the construction going on, which quite honestly did not really bother us. We were so happy with our experience because of Karen (our drink waitress) and many others that went over and beyond. We are looking forward to coming back and seeing the renovations complete.

we visited Nassau four times in the mid 80's and decided to revisit. we last stayed at the cable beach casino and resort which became the Sheraton and now melia. a lot has changed since. the casino is now 1/5th the size with a handful of table games but unattended and empty. mostly slots. although it seems like they are trying to remodel a lot of work stills need to be done. staff was nice. food was ok but expensive, we did not opt for the all-inclusive. the buffet was terrible, few selection. the steak restaurant was ok but over priced for the quality. when I travel I like to eat where locals actually eat, not tourist spots. so while the wife was getting a two hour spa treatment, I venture out. supermarket down the street offer hot meals for locals to get a meal to and from work. great eats. the sides streets downtown has very small stalls where locals eats are great also. area is very built up since the 80's. think it lost the charm it use to have. wife said that will be the last visit. nice that starbucks was there for some good coffee.

We came here for the day off our cruise to get away from the crowds and relax! What a nice place! The beach has the softest sand, the water is crystal clear, and the people were very friendly! A short 15 minute cab ride from the port and we were in front of the resort. Parts of one bathroom at one of the pools had construction going on, but there are three pools, so not a big deal. The beach faces the east, so there was a bit of a chop in the water to try to learn paddle boarding, but it was doable. The bar is QUITE expensive for our standards. Two adult drinks and two soft drinks was almost 40$. Go across the street to the Daiquiri Shack for drinks and food if you're on a slim budget. The drinks are 6$ with alcohol, 5$ without. And they are heaven in a glass! The resort was beautiful though! Definitely worth the trip for some relaxing without the crowds!!

It's in the middle of a construction zone and the general feeling of being at the end of a marathon race and just hoping to finish. The massive BahaMar project right next door will make this place obsolete very soon, and it would seem they are just holding on until then.

Food was overpriced, much better to leave the hotel and find a restaurant. Beach was empty. Nothing noteworthy.

Chose this resort because I had never tried an all inclusive resort before. The check in went smoothly, although it takes a little longer having to put arm bands on everyone for the meal service. Our room was nice and overlooked the pools. We went to the formal dining room the first night and was disappointed with the food. Everything had a fancy name and I didn't even know what I was getting before I actually saw it. Come on people, just call it what it is! Anyway , we didn't go there again and just stuck to the buffet the rest of the

It was out first time in Nassau. I was quite uncertain about the hotel after reading the reviews on trip advisor. I was going to double book and wanted to stay at the Compass Resort instead, but they were completely booked.

Lets, look past the construction ... in fact, if you are planning on staying at the Melia, wait for the construction to be completely finished. The room (we had a beautiful ocean view, as are most of the rooms) lets just say that the hotel room had a bed, one chair, a toilet and sink. This is not a resort room. Our resort rooms have whirlpool tubs, table and chairs, a mini bar fridge completely stocked every day, bathrobes, butler service, king sized beds, and many more luxury items. There were no welcome cocktails, no bell boys.

We had to rent a fridge for ten dollars a day (with nothing in it) We ended up purchasing our own juice, soft drinks, beer and wine to put in it).

Our room was quite small, smaller than any average business hotel. With over 100 pounds of luggage we couldn't really unpack.

We happen to love cats, if you do not like cats or have a fear of them, stay away. They like to follow you around and beg for food.

Enough of the negativity, after all we are on vacation and we paid quite a bit of money to go there. We did take the all inclusive package. The quality of the food was excellent! However, due to the construction, some evenings there was only one dining room. It was Italian food on one half, the other half was buffet. I usually want more variety when I'm on holidays.

The staff was EXCELLENT !!!! Polite, caring, and they love their job. They even felt bad for the guests because the hotel was under construction. Please come back when it is pretty they would tell us.

The sand and the ocean were beautiful. The lounge chairs were old and tattered, with minimal places to relax in the shade. There were lifeguards on duty, Ashanti was very friendly.

Once again, the staff, the beach and the ocean made our vacation. May go back when and if it turns into a RESORT.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the East tower above the 4th floor. You will get a wonderful view of the pools...

Don't believe the bad reviews. Areas of the hotel are under construction but that did not affect our stay. Hotel is very well kept, and the beach is beautiful.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating, I was always greeted with a smile.
Only downside is the lack of daily and nightly entertainment.
Special thanks to Kandeece at the front desk... Thanks for making our visit great.
