Okay so I read ALL the reviews, I was prepared for a decent trip, The long walks to the hotel room was obnoxious, but after a while, it was like a running joke (......5 miles to the room now....) The rooms I have to say were awesome, we had a room on the ground floor which was convienient, and greast for quick jumps in the pool, the staff were nice, but not over the top, some of them were great, others not so much. I was comaparing this trip to our Aruba trip at the marriott, which we had NO complaints about. It was our honeymoon, they comped our breakfast every morning, which was fantastic. (Fantastic it was free, not fantastic the food was good) We went on a power boat excursion which was the highlight of our trip, I STRONGLY reccomend going on The Island World Tour ($190 pp) . If it had not been for that trip, I would have left the bahamas less than satisfied. The beach is okay, nothing like Aruba, The chairs were available, but no huts were available, There were no beach waitstaff to bring you drinks, which I wanted, but whatever. The room key stopped working TWICE, and after a long day, and after a long walk to the hotel room it was infuriating. Nobody at the front desk seemed to care. I mean they care because they "have to" but you can tell it was very ingenuine. Overall it was nice, but i would not come to this hotel or to Nassau Bahamas again, However, I would travel to the other Islands in a heart beat, as they were pristine, as you will see in my photos. The rooms were very very very nice.

“Very Disappointed”

Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort

Jul 8, 2008

I just returned from my stay at the Sheraton. I have been to Nassau, Paradise Island and Freeport many times--I have never had such a horrible check in/room experience in the Bahamas or anyplace. I checked in late(abt 11pm) on the 3rd July. My room rate was to include a rollaway AT NO CHARGE. I was to be on an upper floor. When I got to the hotel, I had no rollaway but they could get me one for $25 a night. I showed the manager my paperwork. He said that the problem was that I booked my room with central reservations in the US and that I would have to take it up with them. They NEVER have free rollaways. He would not bend, wouldn't meet me in the middle. Nothing. He was the poorest example of a manager I have ever seen! I said ok, I would take the charge and work it out with reservations when I got back to the US. I was assigned room on the 2nd floor (one BELOW the front desk so definitely not an UPPER floor as I again had reserved). At the same time that I was disputing the location, a woman from housekeeping came and said that the rollaway couldn't be delivered until after 1am--yes, 1am. It was now about 11:30pm and I was travelling with a 5 year old. AFTER 1AM was not acceptable! In the end, I decided to take 2 double beds (on upper floor) and just consider looking for another hotel the next morning. As we were there only until Sunday, I really didn't want to change hotels. This one was clean and in the desired location on the island--I knew they weren't full and that other hotels would have rooms. I just really didn't want to waste my morning on Friday looking. So, we opted to move to a king room, pay for the rollaway and see about an upper floor. Front desk said they had such a room on the same floor but we would have to check out of the room we were in. At 11am, we checked out of the room, put luggage with the bellman and went to the pool and beach till 1pm, when I was told to come back for the key. At 3:20, I finally got the key, got the bellman to take the luggage up. To keep the trend going, this room wasn't clean. I called the front desk, and who did I get? That nasty manager from the previous night--John. I said "you gave me the key to room 836 and its not clean"...he replied "I didn't give you ANYTHING-I was in the back office on the phone". Ok, to be clear, when you are in a customer service oriented industry you do not talk to a guest that way--he should have apologized for his staff that made the mistake and tried to help me. Instead he told me to come back, have the bellman come back and wait on the room to get clean. As I was talking to him a maid came in and said that this room wasn't on her list but she would clean it-she was awesome--Carol was her name. Now the bellman is mad because I had already had him take the luggage out (Manager John said that I could not be in or have my luggage in a room that wasn't clean). He brought luggage back and just left. I stayed in the room while she cleaned it, went back downstairs and told the manager the room was clean, I was staying in it and to get the rollaway in there. It arrived about 6pm.

The location was good-but I was shocked that a Starwood property such as this was so unorganized. There were so many people complaining about front desk service. I just had a horrible start to my weekend.

Unless there is some great rate on this hotel, I will never stay here again. I usually travel to this island 1-2 times a year. I plan to write or visit Starwood's corporate office (I work about 1/2 mile from their offices) and let them know they need some customer service training over there,

“R&R Vacation”

Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort

Jul 8, 2008

All in all an OK vacation. Not a lot to do, which suited me fine. I went to relax. The hotel is still under renovation, but no loud construction. Rooms are nice enough, but along with what you think you're paying per night, is an added on "Service Fee". They charge $30 additional per day. Don't expect great service. It's one of those places the gratuity is added to your bill automatically. The person serving you doesn't have an incentive to work for their tip and you have no option but to tip. They like the numbers 13 through 18. That's what almost everything for lunch or breakfast costs. Hot dog -$13, Eggs - $18. Dinner? Much higher range. Definately hit Miso's & the Steak House. Excellent food in those two restaurants. Oh one other thing the town shuts down at around 7:00 PM. You'll need a cab if you want to venture outside the resort at night.

“Loved this hotel”

My boyfriend and I stayed July 1 - July 5. Upon arrival we were greeted by the bellman and they quickly took our bags inside. I would suggest allowing them to do this since you are charged a bellman fee on your bill. I had read many reviews before arriving and I knew that I would be charged this fee. At check-in we were upgraded to a beautiful beach view room. The room was clean. The sheets and towels were bright white. All of the hotel staff was friendly and prompt to address the only 2 issues we had - 1) the room safe needed new batteries to work and 2) our bathroom didn't have a hair dryer. The concierge desk was also very helpful.

Hotel&Food: Very expensive. I went prepared and I was still taken aback. The food at the grill by the pool was descent. the breakfast buffet was good but again -- very expesive for eggs and juice. The alcholic drinks were good. We only dined at the Amici for dinner and it was great. I would recommend sharing dishes. The portions served are large enough for 2. I would not recommend dining at the Wyndham. They allow smoking in their restaurants and we had to leave the Black Angus becaue everyone around us was smoking. We went next door to the asian restaurant and the service was slow and the food served was cold. We left after waiting nearly an hour for cold food.

Excursions: I would not recommend the following excursions: 1)the Island World Exuma Excursion ($191/p) or 2) the Atlantis Aquaventure ($115/p). We did these two excursions and they are each a day each. The Exuma excursion is beautiful but rushed and over priced for what you get. The snorkel and swim is cheaper and better. The Aquaventure trip was fun and we really enjoyed the Atlantis. But you can get to the Atlantis by taking the Jitney ($1/p) and the ferry ($3/p) and you can stay into the night and aren't restricted by time. Transportation is included in the Aquaventure and you have a pick up and drop off time.

Beach: The beach was beautiful and never packed. There were chairs galore.

Transportation: The Jitney No. 10 bus runs all day into the evening. The last bus runs between 630 and 7pm. It's only $1/p each way. After 7pm, don't expect to pay any less than $20 to take a taxi anywhere on the island.

Food: The Fish Fry has plenty of restaurants to choose from and the food is much cheaper than anywhere else we dined. The 15% gratuity is not included in the prices.

This was not my first time traveling to the Bahamas. I was prepared and took drinks, snacks and breakfast food. The rooms have a coffee maker that heats water perferctly for oatmeal. Starbucks coffee and tea are in the room and FREE. I saved a lot of money taking my own snacks for the beach and pool.

Overall, the hotel was great, the beach was beautiful, the people were kind, and the food and drinks were expensive.

“Great if you like to be stalked and harrassed”

Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort

Jul 6, 2008

I spent 3 days in absolute fear and the hotel staff did NOTHING to take me seriously besides move my room only to get to the new room and have the same BS happen again. Someone from the hotel staff got a hold of my personal information, cell phone etc and continoulsy called my cell phone, my hotel room and banged on the door while I was in my room. Calls of "hey baby come suck my *ick" continued for 3 days. I informed the front desk to stop all calls in and they did nothing. I finally cut my trip short, spent over $200 to rebook my airfare to leave and the response of the hotel mgr on duty that night "yeah we have had this happen before" The next day the manager on duty "Vince" told me that they would do everything possible to make up for this, but when I tried to get refunded they would only issue me a credit for the nights that I didnt stay. Mind you, I am a single female traveling alone. Its been over a month, and nothing has been done. If you would like to contact me for more information on this, my email is -------------.com
