“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

Don't stay here if you are a clean freak or must have (reliable) WiFi, but do stay if you like ramshackle beach house charm close to the airport and within easy reach of downtown Nassau. Oh and BTW, NB the restaurant is not open for dinner on Saturday night and there is only one restaurant within walking distance.

Room Tip: C1 has a street light shining in at night. Ceiling fan is fine - you won't need A/C at night.

Great little place to stay but please note that this is not a 4/5 star hotel, it's a simple b&b. It is a little run down here & there but this did not detract from the charm of the place. In the evening at the (open) bar you get to meet some locals as well as other guests. Transport is easy with buses passing all day up until around 8pm. The owner if charming enough but her son could do with being a little more friendly.

Room Tip: Goto "Fish fry" which is a locals area for great Conch salad. Conch fritters, Sky juice, S...

You got to remember this is the Islands and not a 4 star hotel. Very friendly and responsive staff. Wi-Fi should be expanded to give a stronger signal to the rooms. It frequently dorps connectivity. The #10 bus into town is very convenient. Two good restaurants up the road - comfort Point and Travels' Rest. And don’t forget the Fish Fry restaurants.

We have stayed at Orange Hill many times....to the point where the owner knows our name! This is a relaxed, laid back place to stay in Nassau. If you need to overnight to make connections, its only mins from the airport. If you want to visit Nassau but not be at the high rises on Cable Beach or Paradise Island, this fits the bill. It is lushly landscaped, has a pool, across the street from the sea. Has honors bar,,,who does that anymore? Go get a beer or soft drink, mark on a sheet next to your room number, and it's added to your bill. The hotel is clean, comfortable, not fancy but perfect if you want a family style place to kick back.
The first time we stayed there our 1 year old was sick. Judy, ( the owner ) had small children too and scurried to find me baby Tylenol.
This past trip, my credit card wouldn't go through for some reason...Judy said, oh I know you'll pay, just send me a check when you get home.
This makes you want to return!

Room Tip: Rooms on the furthest side of the pool are newer.

Orange Hill was a very nice little inn that we used while waiting for a weekly flight to Crooked Island. It is close to the airport and very convenient for an early flight. The bonus is a nice setting, a reasonable hotel, easy to get to Nassau shopping (by bus or taxi) and dinner in the lobby that was excellent Bahamas "home cooking". Also had a quaint touch with an honor bar system which
seems to work very well.

Room Tip: It's a quiet area and I don't believe there is a lot of difference.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Orange Hill is a Nassau gem. My wife and I stayed for 5 days while I went scuba diving and she relaxed doing what she enjoys most, drawing and reading. While this is not a 5 star resort, in many respects it is better. A stone's throw (literally) from the ocean, it is quiet, beautiful, and provides just what is needed at a very reasonable price. Meals are provided at a very moderate cost. At 8 minutes from the airport by taxi and 20 minutes (by shuttle) from Stuart Cove's Dive Bahamas it is a diver's paradise. While the poolside and oceanside rooms are average motel rooms you can rent one of the ocean-view cottages for only a few dollars more and enjoy accomodations second to none in Nassau (see attached pictures). I have been to Orange Hill 3 times and will surely return again. My wife, who has been to other Nassau expensive resorts, likes Orange Hill much better than the others. Not for party goers and casino addicts, but perfect for a real taste of Bahamas island living.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are fine, but the cottages are supurb.
