Booked this venture via our hotel, were told to be ready for a 12 o'clock pick up outside. We were informed that the catamaran would be departing Nassau at 1pm,and this would give us ample time beforehand.Arrived at the port at 12:25,paid,and picked up our boarding cards from the desk, then sat down and waited. And waited..And waited...When 1:20pm turned,my wife spotted the guy who had taken our money and asked him "why is the boat so late?" as it wasn't present in the port.He retorted curt, and abruptly "the boat is NOT late,it'll be here in 5 minutes when it has picked up other guests from the cruise liners",and walked away. After a further 20 minutes without a boat showing up,a few fellow sailors were also getting agitated,so much to the point that a guy from the US asked for his money back from the man my wife had been talking to.
At around 1:50pm,as we were about to challenge "Mr Happy" again, the boat came into sight heading in our direction.Viewed from the jetty,to say there were few spaces left on board would be a gross understatement, many passengers were having to stand along the sides as there was no room to sit down. This was BEFORE we even boarded! We left port not long before 2pm.
We managed to squeeze into a small space on the roof together, but were promptly asked to move as the pilot claimed he couldn't see where he was heading, which I suppose is a valid point were it not for the fact that 5 minutes after we'd shifted,a couple of young bikini wearing girls took up our places and were allowed to stay there!!
The one pleasing thing I can report here,is that the snorkelling area where the boat anchored, was good, several multi coloured fish were present
I could say more, but in my opinion, this trip is very much geared up for the cruise liner passengers who board first. The timetable here is clearly wrapped around the cruise ships sailing times.Don't like reporting this, but at times we felt more of an inconvenience on this trip than fee paying holidaymakers.
A few days beforehand,we had done a similar trip on a catamaran named "Flying Cloud",also sailing from this jetty. I'm pleased to note that this venture was MILES better than the one I'm commenting on here, friendly staff, punctual,a far more enjoyable experience..
