“Some fascinating animals and birds; well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

This small Zoo and Conservation Gardens was much more interesting than we first expected. The highlight is the opportunity to enter their cage and feed the Lory parrots who land on your hand and gently eat the slice of apple that you are holding.
We missed the Flamingo display but enjoyed the jaguar, meerkats, other colourful parrots and many other exhibits. Combining a visit to the Zoo, Fort Charlotte and the Fish Fry makes for an entertaining few hours, all of which is within walking distance of downtown Nassau.

“Feed the Lorry parrets!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

The highlight of the tour is feeding the parrots. They are very tame and eat apples out of your hand. The flamingo's are cute and all the birds seem well cared for. The white peacock (I know it's a he) looks like a proud bride strutting her stuff! There is an opportunity to have you picture taken with a LARGE white parrot and a Macaw as you leave - no charge just a donation box. Wish the tour had more time in the gardens and skip the straw market. (this is part of a Carnival tour) The kids loved the birds!

“Great place to enjoy animals and experience the real Bahamas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

My husband, 16 year old daughter and I visited Ardastra Gardens in January. We enjoyed seeing the marching flamingos and feeding the lorikeet parrots. Nice to get away from all of the more touristy places and see the national bird of the Bahamas.
I highly recommend Aradastra if you are not interested in going to the Beach or Atlantis. Nice pleasant way to spend sometime.

Nice to visit especially the show the flamingos put on but at $16 dollars a little expensive for the time to go through it

“Flamingos on the march”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Not a traditional zoo. But the flamingos walk up to you and the parrots land on your hand and eat apples. Ever see a large parrot hang by its beak?
